With time on their side an index fund as mentioned above would be safe and provide reasonable returns. Probably a better investment than say, Wyoming Moose points 🤷
The “Little Richard” sub-culture is rife with these characteristics. It transcends generations, race, color, creed, socio-economic status, religion, hair color, sexual preference, and rectal-continence boundaries.
The rut has a way of stopping all rational thought for man and beast alike…and like my wife always says “well, they could have been born in the summer but you’re not here in the fall”. My kid’s birthdays are mid-October and late November, i.e. it used to be a late winter rut at our place ...
I’m generally in the camp of do what ever floats your boat, not much judgement from me if you’re staying within the law…I’ve probably even been involved in some events which could be deemed by some as potentially slightly douchey.
But this takes douchebaggery to previously unobtainable...
Them danged Lee-o-polds…drop em 50 times and drive a nail with ‘em they just won’t work no more. I have a couple, my dad has had a couple, they work just fine for many years. My brother killed a buck a couple weeks ago with a Leupold that’s been on the same Model 70 .308 for 40+...
It was a big stud that scored right at 201” with 20 score able points. My son on the right in the pic below was with me when I killed the big whitetail.
I like the general idea of #1, but there is unlikely any way to implement something like that across various state agencies without an extremely unlikely and dramatic paradigm shift in conservation thinking among the states.

Same story everywhere and it’s not going to change: more people & subsequently more hunters combined with less game. It’s never going to get better, at least not in the West on Public Land.
The future of hunting opportunity is on well managed private ground for big $. I’m sure that will...
The sign on the public school fence in the small town near where my parents live
It may sound ridiculous, but unless someone figures out how to catch crazies before they start shooting places up, one of the “good guys” is going to have to be ready to shoot back.
This. You’ll still get plenty of hunting in, and with a little luck and if you do it right, hunting with the kids is better than you could ever imagine before kids. Definitely will be a few years that have reduced opportunity though, then it just gets better and better. And, as a bonus, you...
It’s not that hard to get to 12k in gear. $5k rifle and scope, $2500 spotter & Tripod, $1500 hot tent, $500 boots, $500 backpack, $2000 binos and you’re still naked & hungry.
Don’t forget…it’s also just 5th grade basketball. People get crazy about kids sports and start thinking their pre-pubescent kids are the next 5 star recruits. Sounds like a good learning experience with no harm done…which is exactly what kids sports are supposed to be imho.
How much fat is on it & how much does it weigh? I only use Lawry’s season salt and black pepper on mine, the flavor that makes your brisket is from the fat and smoke. I would not sauce it when resting, that will do nothing for the flavor, if folks want sauce they can add it on their plate...
