Paddling in to hunt Mule Deer in Colorado. (Or other states).

Thanks for the info, we’re assuming out of state would be the most viable option.

Paddling in to hunt Mule Deer in Colorado. (Or other states).

So I just wrapped up my first deer hunt and I was successful. My brother decided not get out this year and will be deployed next year but will have six preference points for the 2024 season. A big dream we have had is to paddle into an area on a raft or canoe to hunt mule deer, even if only one...

    Colorado mule deer tactics

Also, YOU’RE GETTING INTO DEER. You’re doing a good job but probably just need to tweak a few things here and there. You’re doing better than a lot of others. I know we hunt western mule deer and the name of the game out here is to hunt hard everyday but if you have the time and need to wait for...

    Colorado mule deer tactics

I just wrapped up my first mule deer hunt ever. I had a doe tag for muzzleloader season and did it solo. I showed up 4 days early to the area I was gonna hunt, glassed and found quite a few does. Then still hunted the forest around where I saw them. I mean really still hunted all day. 3 steps...

Blue/Dusky Grouse Stories and Tips Wanted!

Sounds like you were in good habitat. Sometimes you just don’t find them. I’d spend sometime driving around the area and seeing if you notice anything on the roads. If that’s not possible then hit that spot a couple more times and if you still don’t get into any birds go back to the drawing board.

    Plans for Dove opener

12 opening day in CO in public land. Changed things up this year and went to a different spot we had been scouting. Surprisingly few people around with a couple guys showing up later in the morning. Coulda shot a lot more if I was any good.

Solo Hunters: Keeping Entertained at Camp Solo Hunting?

Got a doe muzzleloader tag this year. I am going solo and have done it before especially when going after grouse and my elk hunt last year. I am base camp hunting and still manage to get extremally bored when I am in camp. This will be my longest camp alone, its ten days (Unless I tag out...

    Colorado Dove Opener

Had a pretty good day yesterday. The three of us found a pretty good tract of public land after a little scouting last week and it paid off. Between the three of us we shot 12 birds but the reality is we probably could’ve shot 30. Not too mad tho as I have so many shells I’ve been looking for a...

    Colorado Dove hunt?

f Nice, we hit Wellington last year and it wasn't too good for opener at least. We are changing things up this year and heading more east.

    Colorado....unit 007 2nd rifle

Never been in 7 but have hiked in 6 right next door. Very beautiful area. 7 Looks like it is mostly the Rawah Wilderness so the ATV is a no go for most of the unit. If you go north of the wilderness you should be fine. If you are going solo I would recommend finding a good spot for a basecamp...

    Stoked for this Season, tips?

Drew my muzzleloader deer tag this year in Colorado. Its a doe tag and I'm pretty familiar with the unit. It is not a unit with a lot of backcountry in so I will probably be "road hunting." As in I will have about three or four spots picked out to be able to hike in and out each day. Any tips...

A couple more Duskys in Colorado.

Cedahm provided some great info with great pics to show the difference. In flight I can barely tell if at all. Most times its just a blur and I am focusing on getting the shot off before they disappears in the trees.

A couple more Duskys in Colorado.

My biggest advice is don't give up. I know that's cliché but it's the truth. It took my 3 or 4 seasons of going all the time before I finally saw a single grouse. Additionally, grouse like steep mountains, and a mosaic of habitat from low to high. Think sage shot early season, aspen and...

    Dara Holsters are HOT GARBAGE!

Wanted to share a quick experience I had with a Dara Duty Holster. Wanted to experiment with a different holster and bought one. I carry an issued S&W m&p40 with a Streamlight TLR-1 HL. On the 10th or so draw the holster completely fell apart. Thank God this happened at home and not out on the...

I noticed that too, he commented "." on one of my posts and it confused me. Realized he's padding his post numbers after taking a looksy at his pro. For that, I'm out 🦈

    Arizona quail?

Hey all, visiting family for Thanksgiving and will be in Arizona that weekend. Planning on going after some quail one of the days. I'll be in Buckeye. I have a couple nearby wildlife areas that look pretty good but worried about a lot of hunters being out there. My question is how will the...

Anybody wanna talk me out of a bird dog?

I can talk you out of getting a dog, there are hundreds of reasons. But if you are going to get a dog, a hunting dog is the only thing that makes sense. I had a bird dog for a bit, after years of hunting without one. By the end I still didn't think I was getting more out of it then I was putting...
