    Idaho - Public Land Politics

The state legislature has absolutely no control over what happens to public lands. H265 is a giant exercise in blowing smoke. The tinfoil hat wearing, cricket stomping, spud diggers in Southern Idaho love to vote on these types of issues. It helps them out in primaries with conservative voters...

    Outdoor TV hosts (again)

Beware would be scammers, Idaho has a very sophisticated system for catching people trying to scam resident licenses. IDF&G works very closely with our state department of revenue and other sources. If you buy an Idaho Resident license, and you did not file an Idaho state income tax return...

    Idaho - Public Land Politics

Its important to have a little context here Randy. Rocky Barker is not some one that most sportsmen in Idaho (or any one in Idaho for that matter) takes very seriously. In my opinion, Barker is prone to exaggeration, and he represents an extreme minority point of view. His articles tend to be...

    AR 15 Optics ???

I have an EO tech on my flat top. Its great if you have poor eyesight, since both the recticle and the target are in focus at the same time. It is superb in low light conditions, and I have not found anything quicker for target acquisition. I don't think there is a better tactical set up period...

    North Idaho Elk

Hey JW. I'm just North of you. It can feel nearly impossible in our thick timber and brush, but it is possible to get close enough in on them for a shot. The best advice I have is that you really need to know the terrain you're hunting on a small, intimate scale, i.e. every little notch and...

Idaho HB32 - Message from Fish and Game Commissioners...

This was in my inbox this morning... Fish and Game Commission Process Should Be Protected By Commissioners Fred Trevey (chairman), Mark Doerr (vice-chair), Brad Corkill, Blake Fischer, Lane Clezie, Kenny Anderson and Will Naillon There appears to be a misperception among some Idaho lawmakers...

    Need advice on accuracy

One thing that I found really helped tighten up my groups was to practice my set up before I went to the range. Figure out how your going to set up your sand bags, practice holding on target, breathing, trigger squeeze, just like you were at the range. If you switch to sandbags, a rear...

    Need advice on accuracy

Oops, this was a typo, I meant a ten thousandths (.010), not a one thousandth (.001).

    Need advice on accuracy

If it's a factory rifle with no mods, that may be as good as you're going to get. In addition to the above advice: 1. Make sure you are letting the rifle cool down between shots. 2. Check your bullet seating depth. Your bullet should not be more than .001" off the lands and grooves.

    Sportsmen & Enviros

Of the environmental groups that are active in my state, there is only one I consider reasonable, which is the Idaho Conservation League. Nature Conservancy is here, but they are 50/50 on allowing hunting, and they don't have much political support. In contrast, people will actually listen to...

    Sportsmen & Enviros

Its a little more nuanced that what you describe Buzz. In rural states like Wyoming or Montana or Idaho, legislative representation is always going to be skewed towards our strong agriculture, livestock and natural resources communities. At least here in Idaho, our legislature will generally...

    Idaho bill H0032 any info?

You are COMPLETELY misinformed. Under HB89, anyone one who is currently ineligible to receive a CC permit, would still be ineligible to carry a concealed weapon. Moreover, convicted felons (such as the person in the case you cite) aren't allowed to possess weapons period. Permits are a...

    Sportsmen & Enviros

IMO - there really isn't as much "common ground" between the two groups as some claim. Its best to keep (a long) arms lengths distance from them. Even if some enviro groups claim not to be anti-hunting, they are generally chocked full of very unreasonable animal rights types. With this, they...

    Idaho bill H0032 any info?

Any kind of F&G fee increase is typically hard to get anyone to vote for. Some activist sponsor might be attaching it to something else to try to get it pulled through. In the mean time, the legislature is crapping all over are gun rights this session. We're going to have to change the Idaho...

    Resizing and trimming...

can any one suggest an intuative way for correctly setting dies to do partial resizing, and for determining the correct length to trim cases? I trimmed to book spec, but an still getting a tight fit. No way to tell if its not resized enough, or not trimmed enough, if that makes sense. Its a...
