I've been Javelina hunting in AZ Unit 18B off Burro Creek Road for several years. It seems the last few years numbers have declined dramatically. The last couple years have been really nice camping trips. Is anyone willing to suggest a different Unit or maybe I just need to move somewhere within...
I've been thinking about getting/training a dog myself. Intrigued with the idea of a basset hound but I think a baying hound type may not be the best in case the tracked critter hasn't expired, a silent tracker may be better.
I made the run to Idaho again this fall. Set out two baits for the week. Only had three bears come in one kinda average and two small bears. first couple days it was way too hot. then it cooled down but the smoke rolled in. Overall though had a great time.
I saw this in another thread and had this to say. I looked it up online. got a few questions. 1. they responded to a collar that indicated a dead elk. how long did they wait all there appeared to be was bones and hair. 2. they found 4 collars. were they old collars and didn't send a dead elk...
I looked it up online. got a few questions. 1. they responded to a collar that indicated a dead elk. how long did they wait all there appeared to be was bones and hair. 2. they found 4 collars. were they old collars and didn't send a dead elk signal, dead battery or didn't work. 3. they thought...
After browsing some of the hunting threads about bird dogs got me to wondering if any one does, or knows of someone who hunts with poodles? They were originally a hunting dog.
Yea, I already have two rugs with Black and tan Felt so I wanted something different. At first I wasn't sure about the green but I think it tuned out nice.
When I was a kid, all my Dad carried while elk hunting was a binoculars, knife, hatchet, a hank of rope tied around his waist, and an apple and a hershy bar in his pocket. Camo was never heard of. There's a big difference as to what is "needed" and what people "want" on an elk hunt. It can be...
I've been trying to determine what AZ considers a legal handgun for the HAM hunts. Would a Thompson Center Contender in 223 be considered a handgun, or is it defined as more straight wall cartridge of maximum OAL.
I decided to go ahead and set baits. I made the 6 hour drive to an undisclosed area in Idaho labor day weekend and set two bait sites. Then made the 6 hour drive home.
Went back the next weekend to begin a weeks hunt. Bait 1 had a Sow and two cubs cleaning it out, had a couple other bears come...
This would be where I baited this spring and had bears coming in, just nothing I wanted at the time. Also wondering if Deer/Elk hunters in the area would make them nocturnal. Though where I would plan to bait is probably lower country then those guys would be hunting. But I have the time and a...
Toying with the idea of placing a couple baits out over labor day weekend, and hunt the following week. Anyone had much luck baiting in the fall. Biggest draw back it's a 6 hr drive from here to there, gas prices are way up, I'd just cold camp in the tent to set the baits, and pull the trailer...
