I was letting it cool after every 2-3 shots by feeling the barrel. Waiting about 5-10 min until it was barely warm. I am going to finish this last group out and maybe test the .070 depth and see what those results are before I go back. Group 3 is perfectly acceptable for hunting, so anything...- USAF Ret

Yeah, those threw me way off. They were the last 2 shots. Agree, may need to shoot again. Front rest, a Caldwell, rear bag. Very steady.- USAF Ret

What increments do y'all use when seating depth testing. I have heard folks doing as little as .003 and Barnes says .015. Would love to hear thoughts.- USAF Ret

Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024
I had a custom 7mm-08 built specifically for elk hunting, if that says anything. The barrel builder tried to talk me into a 6.5 PRC. No thanks. -

Rossi R95 in 30-30 topped with a Leupold 2-7x. Factory PPU 150 grain at 100 yards. -
30-06 starting powder choice
Hunter and the 168 Gold Dots turned out pretty decent. I was doing 4-shot groups, but I had a bad piece of brass on this one and only got 3 shots. ES and SD were spectacular across the board. Other groups averaged about 1.2 - 1.4 MOA, but this one was a little better. Time to do some seating...- USAF Ret

I am with you. HOWA 1500 (basically a Vanguard action) in 30-06 with a B&C stock. Ain't a thing wrong with that at all.
