I hunted with my encore the 1st time I went to Colorado. I have a factory barrel on a thumbhole stock set. It was a heavy rifle to carry. I shot 162gr Hornady Precision Hunters and they were super accurate. I built a custom Remington 700 and used it to harvest my 1st bull last year also in 7mm...
I had one from Mike Milli at Dedicated Technologies. It was an absolute tack driver. Sold it and had mike make me a 6.8 SPC. It is my new go to coyote gun.

ATG fleece lined pants by Wrangler. Tough, super light and warm. I wear a thin base layer under them and never get cold. Walmart even sells them in the fall. The are on the Wrangler store for $50, or Amazon for $30. Best investment I've made in a while.

I hit mine right in the sweet spot. Just behind the right shoulder. Put two shots into him and he dropped like a stone. Bullet placement and enough energy to make a clean kill are that is really needed. I was always taught that the minimum energy for a clean kill was about 1,000 ft/lbs.

Shot placement is more important to me than if I can shoot through an elk. Put the shot in the vitals and use good ammo and it should be a done deal. I like Hornady Precision Hunters 150gr E-LDX.

Already on the bike getting 30+ minutes of good cardio. I'm going to start the weighted pack in July or August. Gotta work on the legs, back and core also.

Ditch the plastic buckle and get an AustriAlpin COBRA quick release buckle. That was the first thing that I did before I even went hunting. It seemed to be the first logical thing to fail. They are heavy duty aluminum and are almost bullet proof.

1st season elk. The pintler is a great pack, I just needed more room and I didn't want to but another pack. All of the stuff for camp, food, water and extra clothes. I'm sure that it'll all work out. Just wanted more room without the expense of a new pack.

I can promise you that it is not. Not just that, I live near St. Louis at about 500ft above sea level. At 10,200 there is a lot less air. It sucks!

I have been debating on upgrading to a metcalf form the pintler that I have used for several seasons now. This fall our group wants to hike in the day before season and camp close to where we intend to hunt. Our hike in is only about a mile and a half, but we gain 1,000 feet in that mile and a...

Hell of a scope! Shoot it in at 100 or 200. Do the stuff for your CDS dial and enjoy. Mine worked beautifully last season. Range it. Dial it. Shoot it. Good luck.

I have one on my 7mm mag. Awesome scope. I have a 3-15x44 firedot. Super clear glass and tracks perfect. In my opinion, the perfect scope, especially for out west. Great low power and plenty of magnification for those long shots.
