I’ve never had a bad experience talking to a guy who’s in the same spot while afield. I end up learning some new things about the area through the eyes of the other guy.
I did the CO 1st season Elk hunt. It got a cold the first few nights. Got wind burn, then sun burn, cracked lips, took a couple hard falls, jacked up my knee and my gun. Had the whole experience. I went back in there with a couple llamas (@squirrel 's got some awesome animals). Saw elk everyday...
After a brutal solo elk hunt I had a few days to chase these awesome things around. Missed a giant at 190 yds in the wind. Next day I saw this buck walk down behind a rise and out of sight. I set up for a 250 yard shot. Laid there for over an hour, wind picked up, asked myself wtf im doing...
All of them died a few years ago; bad winters. Sure there’s a couple around, but NOTHING like it should be. It’s really really poor deer hunting out that way right now.
@Greenhorn so initially looking at the two dead ones in post 62 I thought the tall one is a much better scorer. Now looking at it, I’m thinking the short & heavy one scores higher?
