I'm going to check out the high top runners as an option. I see alot of benefits. How is the ankle support comparable, in your opinion? I've lost count of the number of times my Beartooth's have saved me from a rolled or broken ankle.
I have a 4 year old pair of Schnee's Beartooth that need new tread. They have a lot of miles on them, but I know them well and that brings me peace of mind.
I can get a full rebuild through Schnee's at $180...or buy a new pair for another $120 or so. I'm also considering looking at other...
Great recommendation, thank you. Majors is awesome. I went back and forth between them and Woodbury, but went with Woodbury out of convenience that they happened to have a drop off in NM right next to my unit at the time.
If I'm ever so lucky to draw an Oryx...Majors is where it will go. My...
We had them shipped via freight and it was reasonable, considering the size. It was $1,200 to have them shipped and they came to a local shipping depot. Still cheaper than the fuel alone it would have cost me to get to LV and back.
I just got my 2022 Elk back from Woodbury taxidermy in Texas...
Update....These came in yesteday and I tried one out. Unfortunately, the fit is way too tight on my Havalon Piranta, and it won't be practical to keep them. It requires an exceptional amount of downward pressure to get the blade locked in, and pliers with equal strength to get it off. Not...
I bought the 100 pack of blades @npaden provided a link for. If they don't fit my knife, I'll send em' back. Otherwise, I'll give them a run and see how they perform and report back.
Victorinox paring knife on the way. For $8, I can't see a reason not to try this.
Finally, I bought a...
These are all great comments and I appreciate the wisdom. I'm generally very careful about my cuts but the throw away blades just don't carry the edge I like long enough to get the life some of you all experience. That, and I've taken for granted how relatively cheap they were and haven't...
Well dang. Here I was shopping for the havalon brand and didnt even consider an alternative brand. Still almost double the price from last year, but at least not triple. Thanks for sharing.
I ran through 4 blades last night cutting up a big boar hog and thought nothing of it. I like a sharp edge and replacement blades are (were) cheap. Realized I'm getting low and hopped online to buy a bulk pack of 50 for my havalon and was floored.....$100! Absolute insanity as I bought a box...
@SCliving Outdoors....been looking forward to this one since you posted the draw. Great write up so far and I'm anticipating more great reading. Thanks for taking us along for another awesome hunt.
Wow. What a story. Congratulations on so many levels, but mostly for having such a great appreciation for what you just experienced. You're living right and I'm very happy for your success.
Awesome, awesome man! Very happy for you pull it off and snap the streak. Sheep are something special and you're in a very exclusive club. Congratulations!
