I've drawn and taken three goats in Washington prior to them being OIL. One was a billy and the other two were nannies. The tenderloins on all three were like chewing good tasting rubber to the point you just swallowed as best you could. I ended up grinding all three and it was very tasty as...
Awesome! Saw your post over on the Hunt-Wa site too. I drew the Kettle Range tag in 2015 and got a respectable 38" bull on Oct 1st. I had called one in the day before in the same area, so I went back and found him or another bull chasing a cow. I was just over a mile from the road and solo...
I like the 40# sacks of wood pellets. They are shaped very much like a bag of boned meat like the sand bag. They work well for me as I usually have a couple left after the winter burning season. Two make a good load for this 60 year old!
Awesome pictures, great shooting and beautiful pup! I lost my Lilly two years ago and it's harder to get on birds solo. I sometimes get lucky and even hit one!
Since you're a handloader and not worried about buying factory ammo, I'll throw out another wildcat option....the 256 Newton. Basically a slightly shorter 6.5-06, but you definitely don't see many of them around. Between my dad and I, we've had two and they are accurate clean killers as most...
Taking a cue from a couple of posts above, I just went to the Victronox site and they have a Swiss Classic Gourmet Steak knife with a 4.7" blade that weighs 1.6 oz. Oh yeah, it's $9.00 + tax and shipping. That's a pretty good sounding option!
I love my EXO 5500, but I also own a Kuiu Ultra 3000 that I got on a great 30% off sale a year+ ago. I know Kuiu has a bit of a bad reputation with some people, but mine worked great on a mulie this year with up to 60# loads. I don't think I'd want too much more than that on it, but the...
Nice. That's pretty cheap too. I tend to use thinner stock for mine so the balls hang out like that. It looks like the top side is dished a bit at each hole or it's just the lighting.
10/22/2017 - 28 1/2" outside spread, my biggest buck in 49 seasons hunting. I took a chance and went to an area I normally chukar hunt, but only see deer every 3rd trip or so. When I do see deer, it's usually only a doe or two. I have seen bucks in the past, but later after the season is...
Awesome pictures and beautiful animals. I'd wager that video will mean as much to you as the mounts will 25 years from now! Did you get any of the bull?
I was wondering early on that with 300 and 303 filling so quickly this year that maybe the sheep knew what was coming and began moving out of the park in front of the weather.
Awesome. Somebody must have found some down lower toward the wintering areas in the last couple of days. The last time I called in was Monday and there was still nothing from 500.
Too bad. I was really hoping to see at least one of you guys get into them this year after that quick start in the 300's. I guess I'll have to live through you next year, unless I bite a really big one and go at it one of these years. I'd better make a decision though as I'll be 60 next May!
