Yeah, its pretty damn irritating. Listening to the meeting though, I was worried they were going to amend the proposal to only include region 6, which I think might have been even worse than status quo. I think that would have pushed even more people to regions 4 and 7. I can understand leaving...
Still not totally clear to me, it might still be on for Region 6, which is only going to push more people to Regions 4 & 7.
They keep preaching that it’s “important to gather all the data” first. I guarantee when they talk about the bear proposals that they won’t be worried about any data...
Do you ever have issues with hook fouling with the rabbit strips? I guess if you keep it short enough its probably not an issue. When I have used it for pike flies in the past I often used a loop of heavy mono to prevent that.
To be fair, I haven’t even stepped foot in that country. I’m totally basing my opinion off of talking to hunters that have had the tag in recent years. I’m guessing that valley has changed a lot in the last 20 years through development though. It seems like back in the early 2000’s, I was seeing...
I have 20 points and have probably been applying in the same unit. I’m not nearly as excited about the thought of drawing it as I was when I first started applying. It says a lot about our mule deer situation. If it was ID, WY, CO, UT, or AZ, I’d be jacked to draw a statewide mule deer tag.
I’m glad to see the tag going to someone in a raffle instead of to the highest bidder. The sad thing is, when you consider the current state of mule deer in MT, I’m not even sure the tag is something to get excited about.
The draw of coues hunting to me is the glassing intensive hunting style and the country that they live in. It's a totally different hunting style than any other whitetail hunting I've done.
I don’t know that it would even matter if the objectives allowed for more elk. Based on their decisions at the last meeting, it seems like the commission has little desire to adhere to what’s in the new EMP.
