We killed a Dinosaur AND ate it

Yep seared it first then reduced it down to medium heat for about 2 beers each side. Rare towards the bone but a lovely medium rare. Gave it our best effort but was still meat left on the bone. Felt like a big old snake trying to digest it the next couple of days. Spot on buckbull - I reckon a...

    Super Glue in Inserts?

Have used the 2 part epoxy’s for along time. Tried super glue once and left field points and inserts in bales - not happy. Like others have mentioned, it becomes brittle and has not impact resistance. Hot melt doesn’t work for us - weather gets too hot.

    Fish finders... How to?

Plenty of targets there for sure.

We killed a Dinosaur AND ate it

It was totally magnificent. Cooked to perfection. It was good old beef and the local butcher doesn’t get them that often. 2.5kg (5lb) of carnivore heaven. There was some token coleslaw on the side - more like garnish.

    Fish finders... How to?

Nothing beats getting time on the water and deciphering the images you’re seeing. Side scan is just magic. Took this a couple of weeks ago. Top left is a the shadow and just back is the fish - one of our tropical species barramundi - this one about 3ft long.

    Driving Lights & Frontal Protection

YES - we have plenty. I believe the Govt quota this year for our state, for professional shooters, was around 4 million and thats estimated to be 10% of population, so it’s not if it’s just when you’re going to bounce one.

    Driving Lights & Frontal Protection

Yeh the light bar is great fill for the sides and when off road on tracks etc. Without protection, 1 animal strike would be at least $2000 repair bill- the “roo bar” up front of mine has paid for itself multiple times. I think I’ve bounced 15 or so skippy’s off the front.

Basics of elk hunting for a flat lander

How about altitude for the flat landers? We’re flying in 4 or 5 days earlier than our hunt hoping this helps us.

    Driving Lights & Frontal Protection

What, if any, are folks using for night driving lights and frontal protection? I do a lot of night driving and run Lightforce LED’s and an LED light bar. My mates say I’m scared of the dark BUT hey I like to see what’s out there in front of me - mainly kangaroos for us. The steel bar up front...

    35 Whelen

Have used this same set up as a back rifle in Oz when we bow hunt buffalo. Great cartridge choice - it whacks the big critters real hard.

    Face Coverings ??

The masks I use are those tube types, so they fit snug to face. Also have one with permethrin in it - love it for anti bug factor, especially when hunting hogs around the swamps etc. I’ve tried the beard thing BUT my string pulls hairs out of face on release. Tried a different anchor but it’s...

    Face Coverings ??

99% is spot and stalk for me here, so yeh have become very used to covering the face. I totally agree with the no eye contact - been up close (10yards or less) to several buffalo and hadn’t wanted it to go pear shaped at that stage. I’m sure prey animals have that sixth sense thing going on...

    SNOW in the Sunshine State

YEP - 15 Celcius is cold for us, so it is proper freezing.

    Face Coverings ??

Didn’t know whether to post this in the Elk section or Archery section. Been watching piles of elk archery videos and hardly anyone using aface covering. I use one of the tube type covers pretty religiously, to cover my ugly mug and take the shine of the face, mainly when hunting deer and other...

    SNOW in the Sunshine State

So our state of Queensland is known as the sunshine state. Well this morning winter has certainly arrived on the border area, which is about 3 hours drive from the capital Brisbane. Light snow has been falling since early this morning. The last 2 times I can remember it snowing here was 1984 and...
