    Hurricane Storm 2

Hey everyone, I was looking for a new target that was bigger than my Reinhart 18-1 to start playing with my recurve again. As always, I’d love a target that I could also shoot with my compound, but the VAPs with stainless outserts always bury up to my fletchings in normal bag targets or the...

QAD exodus has been great for me. 100% pass thru so far: 1 deer....1 grouse.

NOSLER wants to see your success

First elk (2018) and first rifle deer (2016) both with 168gr e-tips in my 308 savage. Thanks to Big Fin for putting me onto non-lead ammo so early in my hunting career!

    Cow hunt gone wrong

Thanks for all the kudos and tips everyone. I wanted to put up what I did post hunt in case anyone else was interested. First, I made an osso bucco out of a shank that was phenomenal. Second, I decided what to do with the antlers. I initially was going to cut them up for dog chews and make the...

    Cow hunt gone wrong

I think PrairieHunter is fishing for the gps tracks . My OnX tracker had three loops: 10.43, 10.65, and 6.91 miles. It died at the end of the day and I’m estimating about two miles covered after my phone shut off. It was a long, sore day. The elevation was fairly minor though (38...

    Cow hunt gone wrong

Yeah, dragged is part of my ‘lessons learned’. My only two harvests before were deer and being self taught, I only learned the gutless method. My buddy went back to the truck to get a sled and try to get better cell phone reception where he called his father in law who was willing to come help...

    Cow hunt gone wrong

Hey guys, here’s a story from last weekend: A buddy and I went out last Friday morning with a cow tag and general tag in each of our pockets. A few weeks ago we saw a couple large groups of cows and we were hoping to fill our freezers, and my first elk was an exciting prospect. We started hiking...

MT early Nov COW elk tactics

Hey everyone, Have failed again to get an elk with my bow I grabbed the nearest OTC cow elk tag (Region 2, BMAs only for me) to try and get it done with a rifle. I’m heading south next Thursday and Friday as those are the only times I could get free. The trouble is in all my learnings in the...

    Need a new archery target

I have the Reinhart 18-1. If you find a blemish sale it’s not too bad for price. Mine is 3 years old shooting all my field point and broadheads at is with great luck. It’s starting to wear out on one side but I can get at least another year by turning it, probably more if I start shooting at the...

Ask your onX Hunt questions here!

Has anyone found a legend for various layer colors? Specifically I’m looking at the MT Big Game Distribution layer and see blue and green for elk, but no clue what they are. From the topography I’m guess green is general range and blue is winter range?? I’m sure there is a legend somewhere but...

Montana State have regulations for County roads?

You can always give the County Attorneys Civil department a call too. They may be able to also point you in a good direction.

    OT: Truck seat covers

I’d also just bought some Jeadwaters for my Tacoma. They take some sweat to get on all the way since they fit so well. The corduroy is a little scratchy at the start but I already notice my seat softening (it’s only been a couple weeks). The websites a little dated, but give them a call...

    Small pack for heavy loads.

I don’t have the Cabinets, I have the MR Longbow (now the Pinter I think) and love it. Great day pack, hauled out a whitetail in one trip easy, and can be used for a few night trip. More than a weekend trip and you’ll want more space (add on lid, or different bag).

    Which call for a beginner?

I too had trouble finding a good fit. The Rocky Mountain Mistress turned out to fit the best, so I bought several. For an external, the Cowgirl is pretty good but also pretty common. The diaphragm call is my preferred method.
