I was on the WY website earlier and under the “public access” section they have landowner lists divided into region, I’ll try and find it again and post the link
Anybody have any recommendations for outfitters that offer prairie dog hunts in WY? Looking to book one this August, which I know is a little late but we’ll be there anyways and figured we might as well book one. Thanks I advance!
I carry one that’s divided into the life-threatening stuff and the basics. For the life threatening I carry a CAT tourniquet, quick clot, a Hyfin chest seal, and a needle decompression kit. The rest is comfort stuff: bandaids, Neosporin, ibuprofen, things like that. Some Benadryl wouldn’t be a...
Yeah I kinda wondered what the thought is on checking others SD cards, but kinda like you it just sounds wrong. I feel like if it isn’t yours, don’t touch it
Yeah, it’s such a shame because especially on public I feel like it has the potential to give that little bit of extra motivation. I guess people feel like they need it more than the owner does though
Well I got a real taste of hunting Florida public land today. A week or so ago I had found a nice deer trail going into an ag field and thought “well this would be a cool place to try out a trail cam.” So I ordered the camera, took it out and got it all set up. A few days later (too soon I know...
I can attest to the KitchenAid attachment. I have the metal version and have used it grind and stuff about 20lbs of sausage recently. Seemed to work well but I don’t have much to compare it to. For the amount I do a year though it seems to work just fine
My go to is always Makers Mark. But others that I love are Basil Hayden’s, Tin Cup, and Buffalo Trace. That family tree is pretty cool because it seems accurate. Everything I like is in the same grouping
Yeah that’s definitely a good point. I just like that Croom is only 45 minutes from me so it makes it good if I just have a morning or afternoon. But it may be worth it to look closer to Georgia/Alabama for a couple weekend hunts
Florida’s strong point is the fishing. I highly recommend getting into that as well.
Im looking forward to Croom this year especially because I was lucky and drew a permit for the first 9 days, so I’m hoping that will make a difference.
AJ, how is Citrus? I’ve considered taking a look there...
I bought my current rifle setup for the same use that you’re wanting. I got a Remington 700 SPS tactical aac-ad in 6.5CM. I went with a used Vortex PST FFP in MOA (nice thing about used is if something is wrong with it Vortex will repair/replace no questions asked). That setup ran me about $1150...
I did find a clear cut that had quite a few trails throughout it. It was only about an acre or two but the grass was at least hip/chest high. While I was was walking through it I had something crash through the brush on the other side. Think it could be a bedding/feeding area? Seems like they...
Okay thanks a lot I’ll be honest that gave me a good bit of confidence that maybe I’m doing something right. In the end though I do genuinely just love being out there and anything more is just extra
I’m confident in the WMA itself, I know it’s just a process of narrowing it down. If you think eliminating the pine stands is a good start that would definitely cut down on places to scout which is a good thing. I only have a climber and a sort of ground blind now but may consider buying a...
I’ve definitely learned it’s not going to be like anything you see anywhere. Florida definitely seems to be in its own unique league. When it comes to the thick stuff how do you hunt it? It seems impossible to hang a stand in the and have any visibility. And would you say if I’m finding trails...
