This is a kit gun my dad and I put together years ago. He got it for me as a gift that he purchased at black powder shop in PA. I rember opening it and he told me that he checked all of the kits at the shop and found the stock with the best figuring. Didn’t appreciate it at the time but I sure...
That part was luck. If it were up to me we would have unknowingly hiked higher right past the elk every day.
Since a few months has gone by now since this trip, I’m surprised to say this but the memory I keep going back to is being stuck in my tent during the snow/sleet storm. There’s something...
I tried to send a PM but it didn’t work. I have an HHA single pin with a third axis bracket that is collecting dust in a drawer. If you are interested I can send you some photos later.
That’s good to hear. I know it won’t be a lightweight setup but I’m hoping splitting it up across two people won’t be as bad. My wife won’t have any hunting gear so I can load her up a little bit on some creature comforts to make us more comfortable.
How did you like this tent? I’m looking at that model for a winter shelter. Did you have any issues with the stove or condensation? I’m thinking about getting the megapeak and the 2p inner for my wife and I on a September archery trip, and then using the stove in the winter.
You can start with either guitar it doesn’t matter if it’s electric or acoustic, they both have a neck and strings. I like to use books for basics so you can refer back to them with sticky notes. Get one with basic chords and one for beginner finger exercises. Amazon has tons. It’s not a lot of...
I’m not one to engage in political debates, but two things are for certain to me. Those wing nuts that entered the capitol and clashed with police sending it into lock down do not represent the thoughts and actions of the majority of Americans, regardless of political flavor. Someone said it in...
I saw in a whitetail forum where guys claim deflated helium balloons are often found near mature whitetail buck beds. The theory is the thermals carry the balloon to a prime area for a buck to bed and catch thermals. I thought it was nonsense but I did find one near a buck bed this year. Maybe...
Not sure how close you are but Richland Shooter Supply in PA had magnum rifle primers and I believe, don’t quote me, small rifle primers last weekend. 300 limit per customer. Lots of different powder and projectiles as well, pretty cool mom and pop shop.
A word of caution on using a bottle with insufficient circumference. I was once surf fishing on a popular beach and the only way to relieve oneself was to use a bottle inside of your waders. I’ll spare the vulgar details but the bottle became pressurized just enough to cause some spray-age.
I won’t carry a pee jug because I don’t want to mix it up for a lemon lime Gatorade. This year I kept peeing off of the tree stand to a minimum and saw more deer then last year. Last year I fired at will off the side. I also hunted more mobile this year and hunted different areas so more testing...
Maybe that is why the load data is different. Two different cases are used in them but same primer and barrel length. I will do some more reading about pressure signs and pay better attention to the load data. I’m not ready to start reloading, just collecting components and information.
Do you...
I started piecing together components as I find them to re load in the off season. I found hornady interlocks in 270 130 grain, and Accurate 4350 powder. As per the $1 I paid hornady via their app for load data on 270 win, the minimum load for that powder and bullet is 48.6 grains and max 54...
Thanks for the replies. I think I’m going to hit a few gun shops and see what, if anything, is available and maybe work backwards from there. I have some time since I have to shoot up some old ammo I have before I can try reloading.
I’m interested in starting to reload. Nothing fancy just basic hunting cartridges in 270 win. A family member has a reloading kit they are going to give me so that will offset the initial cost. I’ve been reading through posts and watching tutorials and I think if I stick to basic low volume...
I went to the local gun store to buy 270. The guy behind the counter was good enough to sell me two boxes from his stash. Never thought rifle ammo would be hard to come by.
Instead of the nalgene bottles go with a smart water bottle they are lighter. This year I could only find a puddle to filter water. I had to squeeze the smart water bottle and basically suck water into it. Wasn’t enough flow to fill a sawyer bag and a nalgene would have taken forever.
This year was my first backpack hunt and I picked a camp in a small open spot on a bench and was glad I did. A rain/snow/ice storm came in one night and I listened to trees crashing down all night. Made me pucker.
I was archery hunting whitetail last week and decided to start a little later due to rainy cold conditions. I scouted my way slowly and quietly into a new place and picked a tree. I slowly started to take my climber apart like I was defusing a bomb to avoid any metal clanking. After carefully...
