    529 Investment for Grandchild?

You are correct. If the grandparent is the account holder, it does not affect the FAFSA. If the parent owns the plan, the first $10,000 is safe, but above that it is considered parental assets for FAFSA.

    529 Investment for Grandchild?

That's a great point. I will offer a counterpoint. The credit union's annual earnings will be taxed each year to the account owner. Not typically an issue if it is in the kids SSN but will be during their earnings years. A 529 plan offers tax deferred earnings much like an IRA. You can also...

My Grinder Sucks - Grinder reviews

I am using the same cabelas one. Been using for 4 years or so and but only grind 2 ish critters a year. My only gripe is its noisy and I am usually grinding at night after the kids are asleep. Works great for me! Only time I will upgrade would be if this one dies.

    529 Investment for Grandchild?

Depends on the state. Some states have a state tax deduction associated with it, but you MUST use the state approved program. You will be the owner of the account so you can decide who the beneficiary can be. If the money doesn't get spent on higher education you can use the money and just...

    Best Elk Pack

Mystery Ranch - Metcalf - Not sure how weights compare to the others but it will haul more than I can carry. I have used it as a day pack the last 3 years with no complaints.

    First hand Covid symptoms

Daughter - 4 - Low grade fever for 2 days and headache. Daughter - 8 - High fever for 2 days, aches, headaches, chills, some taste loss. Me - Runny nose, headaches for 4 days, lost taste and smell, some congestion and fatigue. I probably had some loss of breath in hind sight. I went on my hunt...

    Camper Question

I have often eyed the hybrids as well. They seem to be the way to go especially when your trying to stay small and non fifth wheel. I look for ground clearance from factory as well as the ability to raise safely. Where I take my camper (probably shouldn't but I do anyway) would bottom out...

    Covid buck 2021

Just to clarify… the trail he dropped in was perpendicular from where I shot. I didn’t shoot in the trail… it would have been across the trail with a hill on the back side so totally safe although it doesn’t look like it.

    Covid buck 2021

So I was able to snag a reissue 2nd season buck tag. My brother drew a doe tag and we would go up for OTC elk as well. The week before season started both of my kids came down with Covid. Both kids did great and bounced back with no issues. It totally ruined my 8 year olds Halloween plans...

    12 Colorado deer points

I am needing more details. I must have missed this thread back during application season. I can't decipher between the B.S. and reality. Surely you could have picked a good unit with 12 points that would have been interesting.... ??? Right? Did you at least see anything or just whiffed ?

    Do overs 2021 while hunting..

Didn't have my wife sight in her rifle and I did it for her. I believe this caused for bad shots on an antelope hunt. Getting COVID mid hunt causing me to lose 2 days of hunting that I am sure would have been the days to fill my cow elk tag. Getting COVID mid hunt would not allow me to taste...

Why do hunting boots have to be tall?

Agree with mid height boots and run gaiters. I have skinny ankles and thick calves. I feel the tall boots have more movement than a mid. Just my preference. Gaiters keep the snow and most moisture out.

Covid positive 11 days before leaving for montana elk hunt

I tested positive mid hunt.... Both my kids got it the Monday before season. I took rapid tests all week for work reasons and all were negative. Both my kids only had fevers for 2 days with no other symptoms. I came home to spend Halloween with my kids since they couldn't trick or treat, but...

    Big Game Taste Test

I did an antelope and elk a while back too and the antelope was the winner! I can't believe how many people say they won't eat them because they are "gamey".
