Rifle and scope recommendations
Go to a range that has rentals and see what YOU like. Find a rifle that feels good and doesn’t beat you up. I’d pick something that has readily available ammo. You can usually find 270, 308, 30-06 ammo everywhere. -

Building a Location Independent Career
Another option is contract work. Live where you want to live and get paid well to go do xyz for a predetermined period of time. Gut it out for 6 months them come home with your pockets full and take the rest of the year off.- FLS

Doubtful. 6mm and 6.5 mm dominate the game. heavy high BC copper bullets are too long to feed from a short action AI pattern magazine. Too expensive as well. A serious competitor is shoots 5-10 K rounds a year. Copper doesnt offer any advantage. If it did they would already be using them...- FLS

That is a tiny very specialized subset of long range shooting, that only shoot a handful of rounds at a match. PRS and F Class still shoot jacketed lead. There isn’t a single competitor in either shooting copper. High BC heavy for caliber monos are too long to feed from a mag fed repeater, and...- FLS

Semi Building my first MSR mostly for coyote/varmint and bench rest shooting, not sure which barrel length would be best for my intended purposes?
Don’t skimp on the barrel or trigger. The rest doesn’t matter as much. I shoot an 18” Wylde chambered Black Hole Weaponry barrel. Ive used that length/ chamber for 3 gun rifles, precision ARs, and hunting. I can push a 77 SMK or TMK 2750 out of it. I smack LR steel, killed coyotes, deer and... -

Questions for an outfitter?
Keep looking. I met one last year while I was DIY hunting. Really nice guy. I kept in contact with him and discussed pack in and out service. I’ve got the gear and know where I want to hunt. He was more than willing to do it. My biggest concern was getting an elk out of where I wanted to hunt. -

Which handgun as a backup?
3” K frame with round butt. That about the most compact, easy to carry, easy to shoot 357 I’ve owned. Model 65s are pretty easy to find. -

Tell me about fletching...both your facts and opinions wanted
I’ve got Jo-Jan 6 arrow fletching jig I bought 25ish years ago. I don’t know how many arrows I’ve fletched over the years I shoot RW 4” feathers fletched with a fair amount of helical out of my compound and recurve. -

Reducing caliber mixups
I was ROing a shooter that blew up an AR in 223 with 300 BO that got in the mag. Both of us had to check our shorts. Luckily no one was hurt but the rifle was destroyed. To add insult to injury it was an SBR. $200 tax stamp and a years wait gone in an instant.- FLS

Cartridge Selection - AR
It was the extractor every time, I started carrying an extra. Gave it to another Grendel shooter more than once. 6mm is the sweet spot for that case capacity. -

6mm Grendel has been out a long time. They just commercialized it. I shot a 6.5 Grendel for a couple of years in some tactical matches. When it worked it was great, but I broke several bolts shooting factory ammo. Every time was in the middle of a match. Finally gave up on it.
