    Berger Bullets

Agreed, except for about 5 minutes of this video. 90% of the time its "back in my day" or "wolves ate a the elk" etc....

    AZ Couse Tactics

Maybe last question: There are a couple burn areas, do couse tend to use bun areas like mule deer/elk??

    Berger Bullets

This swayed me away from Berger, now I use Barnes and nosler exclusively. Interesting anectodal perspective.

    AZ Couse Tactics

Thanks! I'm really impressed with AZFGD website compared to most other states. They clearly tell access routes and what roads are closed and some key spots to focus on. I've got a decent tripod that I've used on one hut and I like it. I agree on the cattle tanks not being smart to drink from...

    AZ Couse Tactics

And when you are looking for glassing spots, are you looking to see the biggest area from your glassing spots or do you need to get in a little closer to pick apart a specific canyon/draw? My #1 spot is about 3 miles back and I can glass across canyon if I follow the main ridge for a mile or...

    AZ Couse Tactics

Great advice, I've added a 50# play sand bag to my pack for training. I've finally learned after three western hunts that I need to train more. Hopefully I learn this time! I will probably use my 10s and pick up a 11-33 spotter from vortex.

    AZ Couse Tactics

I'm used to early morning late evening with eastern whitetails; usually within 1-2 hrs of sunrise/sunset pre-rut. Is that typical for couse early Nov? If so, that leaves a lot of in between time trying to spot bedded animals.

    AZ Couse Tactics

So for the binos, I've got 10x42s. Would you recommend getting 15s over a spotting scope? I forgot to ask about bear #s also. Do people generally camp with food out of the tent or not much of an issue?

    AZ Couse Tactics

Got drawn for a leftover Couse tag in AZ and I'm looking for critique of my plan, especially if you want to take out frustrations over life choices/covid19/shortcomings in life etc... AZGFD lists three mountain ranges to hunt and I've got them listed in terms of priority. I plan on driving...

    Best Bang for your Buck

What part of MN? When I hunted with family around Pierz, there were beaver ponds that made shots ~300yds so everyone was using .30-06 or .270. It is hard to beat the class of a lever action though.

    Best Bang for your Buck

Although I had a 300yd shot on public land in KY last year, so maybe 30-30 is inadequate for that type of shot. I've noticed that people really love their used Marlin 336, even the Remington ones so it may not be as cheap as off the shelf bolt actions. I bought a T/C compass in 6.5 CM that was...

    feral cat

I think he means a 220 that is ready to fire ;). I learned its hard to trap anything when you don't set your traps.

    AZ Leftover Tags

Thanks!!!! That should have been obvious. Got drawn for unit 30A....totally pumped now!!! 3 months out, now I can pull the trigger on some camping gear.

    AZ Leftover Tags

I mailed in my leftover application, it arrived on Monday 7/20 @ 8AM. Did anyone else notice money taken out of their account for tags or tags being received in the mail? I'm wondering when I should know if I got a tag or not. Thanks!!!

    Shelter-in-place cooking

I'm a little late, but have you tried more fat content? Seems to make it taste much more like traditional burgers. I go between 10-15%. Not just for the flavor but makes the texture hold up better and they get a nicer charred color when you sear them. I added some cayenne and ginger to my...

Are there any OTC rifle mule deer states left?

I went two years ago, a lot of hunters and alot of people surprisingly far back. First morning I hiked back to a burn 3.5 miles and ran into 4 groups all over the burn. Ended up going another 2 miles and still saw people walking around me. Either they had a better access point or I just...

    Barnes 160gr TSX (7MM Mag)

Let me translate my handwriting lol: Savage 110 .05" off the lands, 68gr RL26 federal case with federal magnum primers. I was consistently less than 1 MOA and with the 140s the recoil is manageable. I didn't have to deviate from the Alliance load data. There is definitely more room for powder in...

    Barnes 160gr TSX (7MM Mag)

Using 140gr TTSX and RL 26, 7rem mag. 1 shot on a cow elk at 100 yds. Very impressed with accuracy too. This is going to be the load I use for most hunting now. Also shot two whitetails last year, same load, one at 20 yds, one at 300. Both went less than 15 yds.

    Spotter Talk

This one looks really nice. I tested a vortex viper15-45x65 during a cow elk hunt in WY last year. I returned it after the hunt because it was too heavy and bulky for me. Do you know if leupold does price control or can you find better deals than MSRP?
