It would very much depend on how involved the school district/their teacher is in the day-to-day process. Access to technology, district budget, districts plan, etc all have an impact on what that looks like.
As the title suggests, I am a complete ice fishing newbie. I spend a lot of time on the water in the summer and early fall, but I have never gone ice fishing. I was recently given an old hand auger, which was the "big ticket" item that prevented me from going. He said if I wasn't planning on...
They are popping up more and more on the upland scene. Same with WPG. The more people know about them, the more people want them, and the more “breeders” pop up. Popularity isn’t always a good thing.
If you’re still wanting the pointing style of dog, could certainly look into some of the less high strung versatile dogs. That was my biggest factor: I knew I wanted a pointing dog but didn’t need the high energy. With pheasant hunting being primary but duck being a close second, the versatile...
I currently have a freedom. 4-12x40 with 30mm tube and side focus, and TMOA reticle. While it’s a fine scope I’m switching to a Vx3i 3.5-10 with cds for two main reasons:
1. KISS mindset. With no moa dashes I’ll have less to distract me, and with a cds dial, I won’t (shouldn’t) need to worry...
I’d ask if you’re really sold on a pointer with how much waterfowl vs upland you’re doing. If so, I’d then ask about home life, etc.
That said, each breed has general characteristics but so much is each breeder.
I only have one gun I’d never sell for any amount of money. My 870 wingmaster, my 13th birthday present from my dad. Doesn’t make it to the field as much with the addition of my 16 gauge, but I make sure to take it out of the stable a few times a year.
My decision was part research, part budget, and one piece of fatherly advice. I did not grow up deer hunting but when I expressed interest in big game hunting my dad told me "Buy a 30-06. You wont need anything else".
Oddly enough my decision to go with a 30-06 makes me the odd man out at deer...
This all leads me to ask another question of the HT Hive-mind: Does anyone else have a sentimental/emotional reason they shoot the cartridge they shoot? I certainly do.
Looks like the T3x Lite Roughtech. Handled one in the store and the stock feels nice. factory muzzle brake isn't a bad feature either, especially for a 300wm.
Every time I think about buying another rifle (and it's often), I remind myself of two things:
1. I don't rifle hunt enough different species often enough that I could justify having an "elk" rifle and a "deer" rifle, so I chose something that will do any of it.
2. I calculate how many boxes of...
@peterk1234 I use the strelok app. I am currently switching to the same scope, but plan on getting a cds dial for it. I realized I never looked at marks and prefer the clean lines of the duplex. Leupold also has detailed moa data for their scopes on their website.
