Recovering from a botched shot.
I think most of us who have done much hunting have messed up a shot or three. I sure have. You did a good job of trying to find the deer. Now it's time to chalk it up to "lessons learned" and go forward. I made a poor hit on a mule deer a few years ago, at last light. My hunting buddy wisely...- Guy

Camera to bring with while hunting
If I'm packing as light as I can, actually hunting, anymore I settle for the phone in my pocket. It can take decent photos: If I'm really seeking out wildlife photo opportunities, I take the Olympus OM-D, with a 75-300 Zuiko lens. It's still rather compact and easily fits in my day pack...- Guy

Best tire option in snow for a 2wd
Ya, I drove rwd V8 patrol cars for a couple of decades. Chains were something we had to use rarely. A couple of hundred pounds of sandbags in the trunk helped a LOT. Sandbags! Not a suspect! ;) And when we went to high quality snow tires.. Wow! Those Crown Vicky patrol cars did surprisingly...- Guy

Worst thing to happen to your rifle while hunting
Shot a bear at about 325 yards with my 30-06. My companions and I were hiking down into the ravine we had to cross to get to the bear when I slipped and fell. My rifle landed on the rocks, right on the old 2-7 Redfield scope! I just knew the scope would be off, but was pleased to see that... -
Copper bullet performance
Recovered a couple of bullets in 2017 from a grizzly. The smaller one is a 200 grain Nosler Partition from my 30-06, the larger one is a 225 grain Barnes TSX from the guide's 338 Win mag. 7mm Rem Mag Bullet Recommendation for Weatherby Vanguard 26" 1-9 1/2 twist
Elk & whitetail with a 7mm Rem Mag. Cool. :) I like the idea of a 160ish grain bullet loaded to about 3,000 fps. Easy to achieve. Though I'm a big fan of the Nosler Partition, this year I used the 160 gr Sierra SPBT Game King, loaded to 3050 fps. Took a mule deer buck at about 150 yards...- Guy
