I figured it might be the 375 Ruger. When I first saw the Ruger Guide Gun in 375 I thought "that's one heck of a rifle." I hope it keeps working out well for you - and yes - I understand about the big bears. :)

My son and I both took Washington mule deer bucks during the past few days:
He took this young 2x3 after stalking it to 137 yards. Used a 1970's 6mm Remington 700 BDL, with handloaded 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. I was right there with him, and it was terrific to watch him carefully...
Powder seems to be creeping back into inventory in the local sporting goods stores here in central Washington - but slowly and haphazardly. Glad I was pretty well stocked with components before this danged shortage.
Except for RL-22... That I had less than a half pound left. Sigh...

Reloader 22 has been my powder of choice for the 7mm Remington Magnum for a long time. Good velocity and accuracy. Any of the slower burning powders should do well. My 7mm's have shot the 175 Sierra and 175 Nosler Partition well.
Last year I used the 160 grain Sierra SPBT Gameking from my 7mm...
On a somewhat morbid note - in my 50's I noticed that some friends, my age, and not much older... were dying...
Heart attacks took three enthusiastic outdoorsmen. One was 60, the other two were in their mid-late 50's. To look at them, you'd think they were hale and hearty men... But... Each...
I'm 64 now, retired from law enforcement at 57, just before my 58th birthday. I started a little self-defense/firearms/pepper spray instruction company and work enough to pay for my hunting and fishing trips. My wife's job covered our medical, and now I'm almost old enough for medicare. Some of...
Looking back on decades of hunting, I realize that I could have done all my big game hunting with just a good 30-06 or similar rifle.
But it's been a lot of fun getting different rifles, working up loads for them, and hunting with them. An awful lot of fun. :)
Antelope, whitetail, mule deer...
Pretty easy - I pulled it off the shelf and blew the dust of it. The book belonged to my grandfather and migrated to my custody decades ago. I just hadn't opened it in a long time, maybe 20 years?
It's got a lot of gems - I'll quote some of them later. Fun to see how things were regarded 70...
His other book was "Practical Dope on the 22"
I think most cartridges over about 25 caliber qualified for this "Practical Dope on the Big Bores" as far as ol' Ness was concerned. He gets into the 348 Win and the 45/70 as well as a few others. Spends a lot of time on the 30-40 Krag and the...
Dang! Normally 7mm Rem Mag is as common as all get out, and reasonably priced.
I guess these are uncommon times.
Glad I'm sitting on a gob of brass, loaded ammo, and bullets for handloading. :) The good ol' 7mm Rem Mag is still a fine all around cartridge for western hunting.
Good luck...
"The only factory load which, in our records, established a 100 percent effective record of deer stopping, over a five-year survey period, was the U.S.C. Co 145 grain Hollow-Copper Point, later loaded by Winchester. Even when handloaded to velocities as low as 2600 f.s.m.v. or to as high as 3100...
Ya, my standard 165 gr 30-06 load is at 2940 fps and has been very successful: elk, mule deer, black bear & antelope. :) I'm happy with it. I do use H4350 for that and have enough to last me a long time.

Have had requests for some of my load data. I'm just going to keep on referring those detailed questions to the loading manuals where there's all sorts of great info. That's where I get my load data - other folks can as well.
I'll often mention the bullet I used, maybe the powder, and if it's...
No chukar for me so far this season. Dog found some...
Me? Hit them? Say what? ;)
It's been fun though. I did pick up some quail and shot some pheasant. Chukar... Sometimes I think of them as evil birds, luring dogs and hunters onto steep dangerous slopes, then simply flying away.... Sigh...
