    Get away from roads, .5- 1 mile, glass+ patience. I've had good luck hunting within a mile or so of irrigated alfalfa fields in dry years. Wet years, deer seem to be a lot more scattered. Don't over think it. Just get the tag and go. Broadus is very hospitable to hunters.

    It is possible. It's physics. Nothing wrong with noslers, I've shot and will continue to kill critters with them. Accubond is my favorite bullet in multiple calibers. Let's compare a Barnes LRX 127 gr to the 143 gr eld-x.

    600 yards = 1,531 ft lbs with a 168gr, so 100lbs more than the 300 and 2 lbs more than the 6.5. Beings a 308win is up for consideration..

    The 2nd column is ft lbs, so looking at 600yds, the 6.5 carries 1529 vs 1423 of the 300. Ballistic mind games, take a 7mm rem mag....

    If you run a 140 grain 3100 fps out of the PRC, it carries the same ft-lbs of energy out past 700yd as a 300 win with 180 grain @ 3,000fps. That being said, I like 30cal holes when it comes to elk personally.
