Yeah, absolutely. In the second article there's an aerial image with the bear's path on it. It was definitely sticking to forested areas that most would consider bear habitat, and had an aversion to crossing the interstate.- ----

Point of diminishing returns
In general I have not been impressed in the Maven stuff I've looked through, but the set of 9x45's I fondled were pretty outstanding. If I were shopping for binos I'd take a hard look at them. -

That's basically where I'm at too. My primary boot system this year on a couple snowy goat hunts were La Sportiva Karakorums with Gaiters. While I do agree with you, I've had a hard time finding a backpacking brand boot that has the height that I like in winter.
