Ive always shot fixed blades. Theyve worked flawlessly for me since 1984. New bows are not hard to tune, even for a newer shooter. Tons of info out there on how to do it.
I’ve always had trucks. Work trucks that are actually used for work. Chevy/ GMC 2500s 4x4s. I buy the contractors package. Electric windows, locks, cruise, rubber floor mats and cloth seats. I drive them till they fall apart and buy a new one.
12-13 MPG uphill, downhill, highway, in town, or...
One of the best moves I ever made was buying a 223 bolt gun. Cheap to feed and fun to shoot and components aren’t too hard to find.
Same could be said for the 308.
This will officially kill the 7 SAUM and WSM. Brass and ammo are unobtanium right now. A factory supported high performance 7mm capable of launching high BC ammo with properly twisted barrel will be hard compete with.
Referring to the practice of shooting game at longer distances. I’ve done it, mostly because I could, not really because I needed to. The majority of big game Ive killed east and west has been well within the capabilities of a .308.
The 308 is adequate for 99% of shots actually taken on NA game. I believe most shots beyond its effective range are generally by choice rather than necessity.
The 130s have become my go to 6.5 bullet. I hunt and shoot steel with them out of my Creedmoor And just picked up a box of 500. They’ve performed exceptionally well in both roles.
Ive also shot the 110 grain out of my 25-06, and the 165 grain bullets out of my 308. All have been very accurate...
Id look for a tresspass fee hunt. It will cost a fraction of guided and Type 2 tags can usually be drawn with no points. The low point units have become a damn zoo. Its worth a few hundred bucks not to deal with that silliness IMO.
Be careful going down this rabbit hole. It’s a very expensive and very addictive hobby. I about to drive to FL for an Osceola hunt, but first had to load a couple of hundred rounds for a match the day after I get back. Shooting on the clock, under pressure is the best thing a shooter can do to...
Handgun: S&W 65 self defense and small game to deer.
Shotgun: 870 same as above.
Rifle : 700 ADL in 308. Everything in NA.
Rimfire: Tikka T1X or CZ457.
300 Grain Speer Hollow point. Best 45/70 Bullet I’ve used. It‘s not really a hollow point, more of a flat point with a dimple. Its a tough bullet that penetrates well, and expands enough but not too much. Killed some big deer and hogs with them. Always get complete penetration and decent...
Deer “Hit lists”
Naming deer (see above)
Fly fishermen ( not fly fishing )
Grown men wearing their hat backwards, a sports jersey, or using the term “we” when talking about a team that they don’t play on.
Dressing like a commando to go to the range, shoot a match, etc.
The B&C ADL is made for the mountain rifle barrel profile. They don’t state that detail clear enough.
I have used several HS Precision ADL stocks and they are drop in with the factory sporter profile. I think they’re a better made stock that the B&C. Fit and finish is definitely better.
I...
I hope it shoots well. I’d really like to see Remington get back on track.
I recently traded into a “C” prefix 308 ADL. Blued gun with a jeweled bolt someone had put in a factory plastic stock. Ordered a replacement Boyd’s classic to put it in.
The A, B, and C prefixed rifles were as good as any factory rifle ever built. The newer rifles shoot fine but the fit and finish is lacking. They are great project rifle though. Get one and if it shoots , coat it drop it in a good stock, and switch out the trigger. Youve got an almost custom...
