"Did you catch one?"
But really... I was whitetail hunting a river bottom and while walking back I ran into a guy who asked if there were "any oak trees around here". Practically every tree within eyeshot was an oak and the dude was literally standing on acorns.
You know how there are apps that will help you "lower" your insurance for safe driving? I can see a future where this also includes avoiding certain street corners and zip codes! 😆
Come on. This is the example you're going with. A place with strict gun laws? Where the gangs run the streets while the average citizen has to fight tooth and nail to own a weapon for self-defense?
There is no clear answer to that question. Estimates range from 55,000 to a couple of million defensive gun uses (biases and methodology play here). Some of those most definitely saved innocent lives. Here is a brief and what I consider fair assessment:

I think they're calling it "mass shooting contagion theory" now and it definitely parallels other copycat type behavior like the whether effect. We know that there are future mass shooters out there, the problem is how to identify them. In regards to school shootings, the FBI has data that...

Yikes!!! I stepped away for a couple and I don't even know any more. Most of the "I believe in the 2nd but..." crowd is at a full-blown "I believe in all but the 2nd".
I was referring to every actual, real-life "compromise" that has eroded the 2nd Amendment. You know, the ones that have gotten us to where we are today. Your ideas are well thought out and reasonable. Except this is NOT how politicians work. It's not how we've gotten to volumes of gun laws...
There are a lot of well thought out ideas by the OP and commenters. Personally, for me it's zero when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. By that I mean NO FURTHER INFRINGEMENTS!!! ZERO!!! Because as much as we want to call it compromise, the only thing being compromised is the degree of rights...
