This winter was the first year I dove in and researched units that had big bulls, somewhat decent drawing opportunities, and fit my style of hunting. I ended up putting in for unit 27 early archery elk as first choice with three points AND DREW IT as a nonresident. I still can't believe it, and...
Leaving in a couple weeks (Easter weekend) to hunt turkeys in R7. Hoping I can find somebody who knows the unit and I can bounce some ideas off of???? I've read and researched about everything I can find on the internet, as well as google earthed things to death. The density map seems like it...
Thank you guys. I never dreamed I would arrow a bull like this. The stars aligned and I think I made the most of it. Again, thank you guys for all the kind words.
After 13 years of applying for elk in my home state of Wyoming. I finally pulled a tag...and in a mountain range I had never stepped foot in! I only made one scouting trip into the area to learn what little roads there were, see the country, and hopefully find some elk. I did find a couple big 6...
Thanks guys. I must be figuring something out :) . I used to say (as well as with some others) that 1 in 12 stalks will be successful. The last two years I'm at 1 in 3 stalks. Was able to get a doe yesterday with one of my doe tags....it was also on the third stalk.
You said SW Wyoming in your original post but now have said NW Wyoming??? hahaha. I live in Southwest Wyoming and can give you a list of guys I trust.....but NW Wyoming is a whole nother thing entirely.
Tag #1 I actually drew with my third choice but there were leftovers available. Just had to make sure I was antelope hunting. After figuring out I drew the tag I went online and was too late to pick up another for the same unit. I did get one for a neighboring unit though hoping to take two...
Good luck! Have never hunted 24 but I'm sure it's on par with the other units up there. Are you spot and stalking or trying to sit over waterholes? There's so many cattle being ran up that way that there's usually an over abundance of waterholes making sitting one very difficult. I spot and...
Told you guys he was a monster. :) frontal shot. Arrow entered in front of the point of right side shoulder. Exited right in front of left rear and broke rear leg. I love these grim reaper heads!
Buck #2 down! Stalked to 21 yards. Just a little guy but over in this unit I haven't seen very many antelope. Only seen two bucks over 60" all day. This one will do! Stand by!
Thanks guys. Slept in this morning. Was up at 2PM 2 days ago to get packed and then go into work for graveyards...hunted all day yesterday, got the tent up and then got to listen to the wind whip this baby around for a couple hours. So, going to eat breakfast, and then head into the other unit...
