Midwest boot hunt!

Wyoming Unit 55
Stayed in Rawlins last season. We ate at Cappys one night, it was pretty good. I'd pass on the Super 8 next to Cappys, kinda sketchy. Not sure how old your kids are, but Tully Park is down the street from Cappys, they have a steam locomotive on display and a nice playground. Also a lot of trains... -

What is the 1 rifle you regretted buying or wished you never had bought?

2018 North Central Kansas buck
That's a beautiful buck. I've hunted that general area a bunch of times, mostly for birds but have chased whitetails too. Shot a really nice 11pt back in 2001. -

I hunted 681 in 2011 for mule deer 3rd season but I mostly hunted the center of the unit, NW of Saguache. UTV necessary in Wyoming unit 62
Just got back from hunting Unit 108 S of Rawlins and we were able to go everywhere with a 4WD. We had dry conditions though, might be a different story with muddy roads. -

Gunnison Archery Elk- 54, 551
I've hunted the east side of 551 twice and have seen elk each time. I was hunting second season with an OTC tag so can't speak to crowds during the earlier season, but it wasn't real crowded and hiking a bit got you away from the majority of hunters. -

Extra rifle
Always take a spare along, even when I'm hunting close to home. Would hate to waste the already limited time I get in the field.
