    Pheasant Gun: 20 gauge or 12?

    I've been carrying a 20 gauge for pheasants for 25+ years and never felt undergunned. I do like carrying a 5.5-6 lb gun all day rather than a 7+ lb one.

    Decked... is it worth it?

    I looked into Truck Vault drawers a few years ago for my truck, I have a topper and the low profile model is around 8" tall so I would still have plenty of room under the cap. Seems like the decked system would use up a lot of the bed since they're so tall. Just thinking if you start stacking...

    Bases for Browning A-Bolt (Help)

    Looks like an ABolt 3 based on the pic of the bolt. I have one in 270 and I put Talley one piece rings on mine, and they are different than the first and second gen guns. Pretty sure they’re low rings and I have a 40mm Leupold on it.

    I'd be hesitant to do that unless you know for sure your ammo is available out there. Hate to get there and can't find ammo.

    Buy Now or Later — Tires

    Any of the Cooper tires mentioned would be a good choice. Another option but they're an agggressive mud tire is Maxxis Razr MT which they make in 265/70. I put a set on my Ram, have about 8k miles on them and have been happy so far, but it's also not my daily driver.

    I'd guess probably half the deer shot in PA each year are shot with Remington Core Lokt bullets in various calibers.

    NY Bear Hunting 2020

    I hunted the southern part of 3A last Sept and didn't see anyone else in the woods in the 3 days I hunted. Like Empire mentioned, lots of people around, but if they do venture into the woods they're probably going to stick to the clearly marked trails.

    I'll second what JFish said about buying the second tag, years that I've bought one I've struggled to get one bird, much less worry about two. First two weeks of the season hunting hours are until noon, after that it's all day. Don't forget we still can't hunt Sundays here either.

    How many deer on average do you see per hunting day?

    Interesting to see all the different responses. Hunting NY public land, 0-3 deer per day, although I've gone 5 days straight without seeing any and had days where I've seen 5 or so. PA I hunt private and low end is usually 5 per day, and have seen upwards of 30+, had 13 walk by the stand...

    Right Handed but Left Eye Dominant

    As others have said, go with the dominant eye. I was taught to shoot right handed but I'm left eye dominant. You can learn to adjust to the cross dominance issue, but it's much better to go with the dominant eye to start, especially with shotguns.

    Local sportsmans association does a basket of cheer with bottles of liquor and various snacks, usually pretty popular. RMEF chapter did a Browning Hells Canyon rifle last year, DU this year had a Kimer Hunter, the tickets sold pretty quick for those. Henry rifles seem to be popular as well...

    Attractions in Wyoming/SD

    That's because hardly anyone is there. We stopped overnight last year at the end of Sept on our way back from Yellowstone and had the town to ourselves. We stayed at the Best Western since I get the points but I'd recommend somewhere else, the hotel was pretty dated.
