I have a Rem SP 10 and I don’t find recoil that bad, even with turkey loads. It weighs 11 pounds plus it’s gas operated so it soaks it up, more a big shove than a sharp rap. Rather shoot that than my 7lb Benelli 12 ga with 3 inchers.
Drove past one area of public land today here in SE PA, this week is the last pheasant stocking for the year. There were 40 trucks parked at the various lots. I would say hunter numbers are up.
I hunted antelope south of Rawlins in 2018 and saw a lot of sage grouse while scouting. Stopped in to the gun shop and bought a small game license and was able to shoot a couple. Season is around the end of Sept. so can easily combine both.
+1 on this. My dad purchased a wirehair years ago from a breeder and they shipped it via airline. That dog was traumatized for two weeks after it arrived.
I always carried booties for my labs when hunting out west. If his feet aren’t conditioned they’ll get torn up after multiple days of running thru the fields
I saw very little sign last weekend, hunted Sat, Sun and Mon. Heard 4 shots on Saturday morning but nothing close to where I was hunting, and I didn't see anyone else in the woods. Did see a cub Friday night when driving into the campground, that was the highlight of the weekend.
I'll be hunting that weekend as well in 3A. Last year was my first year hunting that area and saw a lot of sign and one bear but no shot opportunity. Hoping this year I'll get lucky.
Looks the same for me as a NR, just $9.00 and $100 in place of $7.00 and $50. The Total Line throws you off, I thought at first they had charged me $109 on top of the $9 I'd already paid.
A couple years ago I had a bobcat stalk in to about 5 feet of my turkey decoys before it realized something wasn’t right. Also had a coyote come in to my calls one spring.
Wife and I have a pair of Old Town Camden Anglers, a 10.5 and 12.5 model. Bought them about 7 years ago and have been happy with them. Durable, seats are comfortable, not too heavy, has some storage in back hatch and in front of your feet for a couple small dry bags, and can bungee stuff on top...
What about a 3500 SRW? May have better luck finding one of those with the 8' bed and the options you want. Seems like a lot more of those come with the 8' bed than the 2500 models.
