odds on drawing nonresident ewe/lamb sheep tags

I got lucky 3yrs ago and drew a RMBH ewe tag here in New Mexico. The hunt did not disappoint. 21mile round trip harvested at a lil over 12k feet. The experience was worth it. I also look at it the same way you do, I may never draw a ram tag but I at least got to hunt sheep. The meat was amazing...

3 lopes, 3 states one week, can it be done?

Pronghorn are my absolute favorite to hunt and is the favorite table fare in my house so that's a tough call. I agree with JLS though and think it should be a 2 wk trip. If you tag out sooner you can always move on to the next destination but won't feel rushed. If taking extra time isn't in the...

    German Shorthair Pointer input

We have a 2 year old GSP and he is the most high energy dog I've ever been around. He'll run our 4 acre property non stop all day long chasing birds. It's hard to keep weight on him because he runs so much. He's also one of the smartest dogs I've been around. Quick learner and easy to train...

    Colorado "Governor's Tag" Raffles

A huge thank you to everyone at the RMBHS and everything they do, usually I buy the tickets just to make my donation. I can't remember who I talked to on the phone because I was in shock but they asked me "how many tickets did you buy". Unfortunately my wife was sitting there while the phone was...

    Colorado "Governor's Tag" Raffles

Whoops had to expand that comment a page back, it'll be on their Facebook page.. was asking because the website hadn't been updated and he wrote a comment that all ticket purchasers would recieve an email, which I never got. Still missing pictures of at least 1 raffle ticket, got worried they...

    Educating Adult Onset Hunter

Biggest thing that's helped me hunt DIY is learning an area really well. Once you find game and pattern them year after year you start to learn what their habits are and the places they go when they get spooked or are pressured. With that said I also like hunting new areas to try and figure out...

    New Mexico Barbary Sheep

Yes resident and non resident OTC. And I believe I gave some bad info earlier. It's not just OTC in the areas with desert bighorns, iit's OTC for the majority of the state except the draw units. The proclamation has all the units in it and describes the OTC area in unit 34 (desert bighorn area).

    New Mexico Barbary Sheep

Yup all the "quality" areas are draw only. But there is a mountain range where the barbary sheep have started to compete with some desert bighorn sheep. So that area only is OTC.

    Putting in reps?!

I have a friend that shoots at the park while his son is at baseball practice. He's had the cops called on him a couple of times just because people will be people. But as long af your not shooting towards anything and you have a backstop should be fine. A lot of people shoot indoors too. Your...

    New to archery

I agree with what's been said, especially finding a locally owned shop. You've gotta get that bow set up for YOU. Once that's done it's all about repetition. Archery is a perishable skill. I shoot every single day. Even if it's only 2-3 arrows I make sure I go through the motions daily. Just...

    NM Unit 52 bears?

I drew a bull tag in October up there, I know there's a good amount of bears on the Colorado side so id imagine there's some on the NM side. I want to say that bear zone is usually one of the first to close because of harvest. I know I'll have a bear tag in my pocket if season is still open there.
