I always invite a new hunter along when I'm in thick grizz country. Make them sleep in a separate tent at least 50 yards from me. I always wait for them to go to sleep first after which I throw a slab of bacon outside their tent and smear a little honey on the tent fly. Oddly enough I've never...
Gotta say there's really not many celebrities that I give a damn about, and that's putting it nicely. But, this has been a truly sad day imo. His fight is over but he won't be forgotten.
I was fortunate enough to make my dream hunt a reality last Sept. AK moose and had the trip of a lifetime.
But....... if I could pick another it would probably be mountain caribou or possibly stone sheep
No failures on this thread as far as I'm concerned. Any elk is a good elk. I will attach a picture of my favorite bull and he's honestly way too small to bother scoring.

As others have said I would try using it a bit. I'd be surprised if you couldn't be accurate with 90 to 100 grains which would make me feel a bit better on elk.
Good luck and have fun
So, I also had to buy a. 338 last year too. I used it on an AK moose hunt and it was money. One of my favorite rifles I own and I guess I'm crazy but I even enjoy shooting it....lol Plan on using it on elk here in Montana just for fun.
There's no way I'd live in Hardin as some indicated. It's way worse than the flathead imo and I've spent a fair amount of time in both areas. Bridger would be fine. Ranchester would be even better if you could deal with the drive
A couple of Montana bulls. Both Otc, the one with a rifle was public land and the archery bull was on private.
Some really nice bulls on this thread for sure!
