Ya, I saw photos of that buck awhile back. Any idea if it's been officially entered into a record book? Also, I had heard that it was from Nebraska, not Alberta. That's what happens with the telephone game I guess.
I needed a reason to post antelope pics so I made one up.
Rank these antelope in order from biggest to smallest (B&C score). No need to list the scores or measurements. Some of these bucks have been taken, others disappeared forever, others are still alive. Try not to look up the scores for the...
Technically I guess it would be when they start rutting or just before they start rutting, so it's slightly different from state to state. Though maximum horn size will probably be achieved before that because of the difference in mass versus length. As the horns grow longer the top end of the...
8-6/8 inches of length past the prong.
7 inches of total mass above the prong. 4-1/8 above the prong and 2-7/8 on the last quarter. At least those are the measurements I came up with.
I'm going with 80-6/8 and a range from 78-2/8 to 83-2/8.
L 14-2/8
P 5-5/8
B 6-4/8
1 6-7/8
2 4-1/8
3 2-7/8
Unfortunately we'll never know the actual score, but it's always fun to practice field judging.
Also, I think there's a reasonable chance that the buck is a 2 year old. His face...
JM77 - that's quite a collection of awesome bucks, notably that freak! Do you have anymore photos of that thing? Unreal! Was that buck also from Wyoming somewhere?
This is a cool buck I took photos of in New Mexico a few years ago in 2010 when Randy, Bryce, and I all drew the same archery tag. I wasn't hunting with them, but did get to eat dinner with them several nights and tell hunting stories.
Randy kept telling me about this buck near the ranch house...
His body was very small compared to all the other bucks around him and he was also much lighter in color and shaggier. Very weird. I guess all the feed went to his horns instead of his body.
Zoom the camera all the way out (if using 5X camera or less) and usually don't zoom in on the scope at all. You'll get the best results that way. Once you start to use the scopes zoom it becomes more difficult to pick up enough light for the camera to focus and for the image stabilization to...
Ya, we almost switched to a rifle after a few botched attempts with the handgun, but Len stuck with it and it payed off as this buck will probably be the SCI World's Record with a handgun (beating out my Dad's buck that's the current SCI Handgun World's Record at 89-3/8).
We may have been ever so slightly above the buck, but not by much. The buck's ears were exceptionally large - 7-5/8". However, the face, from the tear duct to the end of the nose, was really short for an antelope - 7-4/8".
