Treaty by treaty basis is important too...in many circumstances (based on treaty language), state's don't have authority to set game laws for tribal members hunting off reservation (on USFS, BLM, state land etc.) either.- idahohuntr

Nothing about that ruling changed land ownership or causes some swath of land to be turned back over to the Tribe. I don't see this ruling having any landmark implications...many of the headlines in the press are sensationalized, but feds have jurisdiction everywhere...a tribal member committing a crime within a reservation can't be tried by the State, could be tried by the Tribe or feds...not a big deal in...- idahohuntr

Idaho Unit 54 rut hunt
Been hearing a few stories like this...always a spouse or child and always a really low odds tag. With the confirmation screen prior to app payment its surprising how many folks must be rushing thru without reading...but it seems to be ending up well for most! Good luck on the hunt.- idahohuntr

Touching base with the local warden seems like a good idea; but your scenario doesn't sound too concerning. I would hike and camp wherever I want (within land manager's rules of course). Based on the SCOTUS ruling I don't see this latest decision by a local Wyoming court lasting very long. While this ruling stems from SCOTUS remanding the case back to lower courts to address occupied lands and conservation arguments, I don't think there is a chance either issue leads to a sound...- idahohuntr

Yea, good point. I was focused more on the threat of travel restrictions/health concerns, but economics could be a much bigger factor looking forward. One things for sure, there is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, including hunting apps and draw odds!- idahohuntr

2020 Colorado Deer and Elk Non Resident Apps Poll
Colorado is definitely one state that is going to bear the brunt of any COVID induced app reductions...I don't think it will extrapolate to states with later app dates in May and June when we are on the very downside of this virus though. Will be very interesting to see the numbers.- idahohuntr

In my view, the big question for fall hunts will be the seasonality of this virus and what we learn between now and September. What a great bill - glad to see this sort of thing getting bipartisan support; no small task in this era! It will be really interesting to see if any recorded easements turn up for otherwise landlocked parcels of federal lands...what a win that would be for public land users.- idahohuntr
