I went to a hockey game and a rifle broke out...or would it be I bought a rifle and a hockey game broke out?
I am eyeing a 307 in 7mm PRC myself. Not sure if funds will allow it. Might wait on tag application success before investing in one. I am also hearing great reviews on the Sako 90 Quest.
Some of the reviews I have read are positive. WhoTeeWho likes the ones he has reviewed. Personally I will wait for the 7mm PRC version and am hoping that flavor will include a 22" or 24" barrel.
Huh, must be more than one definition for a "brush gun". I think of a brush gun not as something that can shoot through brush but rather something that can be maneuvered through brush. I will take a 16 inch barreled carbine through thick brush well before a 24" barreled suppressed rifle...
He had got a new scope, the good thing is scope he got was same scope I had on my Savage so that at least was familiar to him. Tires that blew out and a total of 3 have since I bought them are Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar's. I have BFGoodrich K02's on the truck now. Much better in my opinion.
Plenty of water in the Granite Peak, Baker and Great Basin ranch areas. As we were limited to two miles within those areas, did not do a lot of other exploring. That said the huntable hillsides around the National Park area look really good as does the wilderness area to the north of the Baker...
So finally done hunting and will start at the end. In a last ditch effort I hunted on Black Friday and the Saturday after Thanksgiving. As my tag was a depredation tag I could only harvest within two miles of 3 specific ranch areas. I saw nothing, elk wise, those two days. I took the time to...
I will be with my joint tag holder friend chasing cow elk next week. Will try to log but will definitely post pictures after I get back home on 11/10. Should be a fun hunt a couple of clowns chasing critters for 6 days.
More to follow!
Yeah already have it pinned. The hunt area for this tag is very restricted, 2 mile area around specific ranch areas. Should be a challenging hunt, on a positive note it is a party tag and my buddy a lifelong NV resident may know one or both ranch owners. That could come in handy.
I have a depredation cow elk tag for the agricultural areas including granite peak. I will be hunting there early in November. While I won't be on the mountain side at all I will be glassing a bit of the south east side of 115. If any decent bulls are seen, I have no issues saying what I saw...
Being from NY where until about 20 years ago only shotguns were allowed, my first big game firearm is a 1921 Savage shotgun that was a hand me down from my grandfather. I still have it and it is not used anymore and will be handed down to my grandson. My first big game rifle is a Marlin XL7 in...
This. When at the range I shoot off sand/shooting bags or bipods if rifle is so equipped. Sleds don't give you the 'feel' of hunt shooting conditions but shooting using bags/backpack/sticks/bipods etc. do at least more closely resemble field conditions, plus it forces you to test actually...
I already have a 30-06 but if I could get that or a 270 Win in either a Remington 760 or 7600, that might float my boat. Only other cartridges that are grabbing my fancy this minute are the 6.5 Grendel and the 7mm-PRC.
Interesting discussion. For me it is a bit personal. I use OnX and will never go with GoHunt as I applied for a position there as a BI Engineer and didn't even get the courtesy of a phone screen. Now I will be arrogant about this but I am damn good at what I do. So yeah felt burned and said...
Same thing happened to Cabelas. I know a lot of people gripe about Bass Pro buying them but at least that saved a ton of retail jobs. These "investment" companies pretty much squeeze all the money they can out of a business and then toss it aside.
I am hearing good things about the new...
I was just looking on the Hammer Bullets site. The .264 118 and 125 HHTs have my attention for loading both Manbun and PRC. I have a cow elk tag this year and if I get a good recipe cooked up, may seriously consider trying them. Need to get more 30-06 brass saved up to go with a .308 HHT
