I found my Granddaughter a Howa 6.5 Grendel now what scope?

If you are still looking for a scope yeah the @schmalts is the route if you are going Leupold. Someone mention Sig, they carry the BuckMaster brand now that Nikon is out of the scope business, they are fairly reasonably priced and may be a good economical alternative.

    30-06 Brand recommendation

It looks like you want to be budget friendly. If you go Savage skip the Axis and Axis 2 and go 110 or similar. I have a Winchester XPR in 30-06 and like it a lot. You can't go wrong with a Howa or a Howa named Weatherby (Vanguard). The Ruger American is also a decent rifle for the money...

Accuracy Issues (270 Win, Ruger American)

I have a Ruger American in 308. With the factory stock it was pretty much, meh, regardless of the ammo I tried. I invested in a Magpul Hunter stock and it was like getting a new rifle, the cheap Federal soft points group great at 200 zero with 1 moa or better. If you like the factory stock I...

    Afghanistan

Interesting comments on a thread topic that has many of us upset and disgusted. While arguments will go on in regards to what Biden did or didn't do correctly, there was nearly no doubt what the outcome would be. As elkhnter eludes to Afghanistan has always been a region of constant...

I found my Granddaughter a Howa 6.5 Grendel now what scope?

@D4570 Looks like you have her set up. Nice shots! So what scope did you go with, I can't quite tell from the picture. I do recognize the Howa mini action she is shooting. How does she like it?

    Howa HS Precision question

I am taking a look at the Howa Randy Newburg 2 Carbon Stalker in either 6.5PRC or 7mm-HT. Looks like a nice light rifle listed at 6.2 pounds. Top it with Leupold glass and I think it would be a good bet.

SUV vs. Truck for Upland Rig & Daily Driver?

Interesting thread. I am more of a Nissan guy so Frontier or Pathfinder but the Pathfinder I would look at the 2022 redesign which takes it back to its off-road roots. I have a 2015 Frontier that has been great and brand new 4X4 SV only set me back $27,000 in 2016. Can't go wrong with the...

What Would Be Your Rifle of Choice for Such an Adventure

We men only feign to have more experience and knowledge, most of us don't know what we are talking about. A combo if functional and easily packable would be a fantastic idea.

What Would Be Your Rifle of Choice for Such an Adventure

This is a fun one. I would probably take a lever action 45-70. Given 1 firearm I am going to assume a collapsible fish rod could also be carried. So instead of small game go after fish for meals between finding game that can be taken with the 45-70. Definitely would be an adventure.

    HOWA questions here

I was looking that over online today myself. A nice looking rifle from what I can tell.

    Leverlution & 250 Savage data?

Assuming you mean LEVERevolution, Hornady shows min 29.6 and max 32.6 for 90 grn GMX, 28.7 min and 33.5 for 100 grn Interlock. 26.7 to 33.0 for 110 grn and 27.2 to 31.7 for 117 grn. I have never personally loaded for it so can't give you what works for me, just what Hornady has in the book

    White Death.....

Sportsman's Warehouse is claiming to have them (T3x Lite Compact Black) in some Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Wyoming stores stores. I didn't bother looking further down the store list.

Is Ammo supply coming back at all yet?

Ammo has not been an issue, even found 38 Special yesterday, which I hadn't seen since I bought my 357 Mag revolver back in March. So fun times shooting that soon. Powder and primers are what I am looking for. Found a pound of IMR 4831 which I might be able to put to good use but Varget and...

    NY bear hunt 2022

I spent most of my life in the Southern Tier of NY. Great deer hunting and bear populations are healthy from what I know. If bear is the primary target the Catskills and the Adirondacks are the best bets. If you are willing to risk a little lower chance of seeing a bear and being a little...

    Short action vs. long action

I never bought into the short action throw being a big weight saver and faster cycling. Yeah in theory but when many economy rifles use a long throw even for short action rounds (Savage Axis, same action length just use a spacer to fit a short action magazine), it can become a mute argument...

    First hand Covid symptoms

heh, I always say if weren't for a-holes we would all be full of poo. Coronavirus much like it's close cousin rhinovirus can mutate very easily as can the influenza virus. If they couldn't, cold medicine companies would be out of business and we wouldn't have our doctors recommending a flu...

Son needs a rifle for deer hunting

I am going to agree with a few here and say the .243, with this caveat, OP said oldest son is turning 9. I am going out on a limb and assuming there is/are younger son/sons/daughter/daughters. Start the eldest with the .243 and when the next is up to start shooting graduate the eldest to a...

Barnes TTSX BT .308 win 150 gr load

Debating a .308 load myself. My Ruger American .308, 22" barrel, that I put a Magpul Hunter stock on shoots lights out with the inexpensive Federal Power-Shok stuff in 150. Will use that for my NY Whitetail trip but deciding what I might want to try 150 TTSX are one option as well as Accubonds...
