I’ve brought two moose and two elk home from BC to Arkansas with no problems. Have it cut, wrapped and frozen there and pack in coolers. You have 3 days to get it home before it starts to thaw.
For me the best thing in the gym to prepare for goat/sheep season was running on a stair stepper. It takes the right kind of stair stepper to allow you to actually run on it, but when you do it's a hell of a workout and prepares you for the burn of a constant climb. You can add a backpack and...
I've had successful moose hunts with Ram Creek and Monashee Outfitting in the Kootenays.

Rugs are awesome but take up a lot of room. Goats are bigger than you think.
If it's your first, I'd do a 1/2 mount at minimum or full mount if you have room and can afford it. Rug the second or third one.
Spent a few days in 323 looking at goats last week. Will go back in July for a more extended stay into several areas. Always fun to see goats, even if not hunting.
Low end hand me down to me says look for a used Citori or Red Label.
There are a lot of excellent guns out there to any price you are willing to go, but for a decent gun that anyone would be proud to inherit but also not be worried to use, those would be my choices.
I have a Gemtech Tracker that is perfect for shooting out of stands/blinds or when little walking/stalking is needed. It does an excellent job of noise and recoil reduction.
I have a Dead Air Nomad-Ti for stalking that is lighter and shorter than the Tracker. It spends most of it's time on my...
Used to live in Kodiak. Now Arkansas. Was living there when the internet kicked off and was not imaginative on user names. I've used it ever since.
Miss it, but it's hard to go back. I console myself with trips to MT and ID a couple times a year.
Wow, I've not seen sheep in there. Might have to make the effort this summer. I'll actually be in 323 two times this summer. One trip with my wife and one trip with my son in law.
Yeah. I've been putting in for that area since around 2001 and my daughter and son in law put in as well. Hoping one of these days for one of us.
This was a decent one we saw in Lambert last summer.
No, I've applied to 323 many years and try to do a summer vacation scouting trip to the area at least every other year. Was just going to talk trails with you but don't necessarily want to do it on an open forum.
As stated before, factory loads use blended powders and pressure test all components used. Reloading manuals have no control of what lot of powder, primer, bullet, and brass case you use. What may be a safe combination of variable lots may not be with another.
I personally like to load to...
Thankfully, I've done a lot of hunting in my life. As much as I do want to hunt the animals, I get a lot of enjoyment just from being in their presence. I am committed to drawing a certain area, regardless of odds. I do a week long summer vacation to the area and try to hike into a different...
