Increasing population numbers by making it so difficult to kill anything isn’t going to get any support. Blaming technology is not the answer. I’m no fan of long range idiots either but they are not the reason for the decline and trying to force everyone to give up their rifles for bows and...
This isn’t a technology problem. There’s too many damn people in regions 6 and 7 and a few other popular units. It’s not difficult to limit the number of folks in regions. WY does it pretty damn well with NR elk tags. I’m sure Montana could implement similar guidelines.
All this talk of...
I see your point. It’s worth a shot. I’m not convinced that anything other than reducing the number of people in certain areas will fix it despite dates. Only time would tell if it is effective.
Good question.
I think the ones that would squeal are the same ones that don’t see a problem with the current situation. I think the general tag is more important to most people than the rut dates. But they are equally important to a lot of people. They want their cake and eat it too.
As you...
What I meant was there’s no incentive for folks to adopt this based on better whitetail rut hunting as a benefit. I don’t see it resulting in more support for the proposal. Perhaps there’s more whitetail hunters in the areas of concern than I realize. Is taking the whitetail guys out of the...
I must be missing something. We already get whitetail in the rut. This proposal only makes the season go a few days further to the end of November. Right?
Last year it went Oct 21- Nov 26 the new proposal isn’t going to motivate additional whitetail hunters. IMO
If they shoot well then use them. There’s nothing wrong with them, Barnes just discontinued them as they developed the TSX and realized that the coating wasn’t necessary and more of an unintentional gimmick.
As spendy as 340 ammo is I wouldn’t hesitate using them as long as they shoot...
I was asked the same thing.
Then after asking me if I hunted in unit xxx which I had a tag for, they asked if I killed my antelope in that same unit. WTH?
I said “Yes, that’s the only unit I was able to hunt in “.
Kinda weird how they knew what unit I had but then asked what unit I killed it in.
I see your point based off the “data” from the chart but I view it as a management issue that has nothing to do with the amount of NR tags. If they managed the regions properly it would not be an issue. They could eliminate every NR tag and those regions would still suffer from mismanagement.
