    Arrow FOC

This... If you like to tinker then go with the lightest spine that you can safely shoot with heavy cut on contact well made heads up front. You will have to tune each arrow to find the "sweet spot" on the spine. You will know you found it when you can group your arrows real tight without...

    What's yer total?

Here in the Hoosier state you used to have to take your deer whole to a check station and they would give you a metal tag. I kept the metal tags on the first buck rack I killed until the antlers were full then started putting them in a box. They stopped doing that and you just check them in on...

    Building arrows??

When you get to 20+% FOC then you will notice good things.

    Building arrows??

There is a sweet spot when chasing FOC. You can go with a heavy arrow/stiff spine but you aren't gaining the "optimum" performance and you are increasing your point weight to get more FOC. If you can play with different arrow spines and increase point weight and turn your nock to find the...

    Building arrows??

Heavy point up front causes shaft to bend more AKA absorbing more energy from the bow which in turn makes the bow quieter. There is a point where to light of a spine will cause serious issues with arrow stability and possibly failure. Dr. Ashby gets real involved with it. It is even more...

    Building arrows??

Yes but moving to a heavy shaft changes FOC so to get optimum performance you should use the lightest spine that gives you the best FOC. I have tested this over the years.

    Building arrows??

Put a 100gr point on your arrow and then put a 200gr point on. You will see the difference.

    Chili Colorado

Your process is the same as mine. I think next time I won't waste the time and strain. I believe you could brown opossum meat unseasoned and cook it in the Chilli sauce and it would tast amazing!

    How Clean is Clean, Muzzleloaders

For my in line I use BH 209 powder and Thor all copper bullets. My cleaning process is the same as my center fire rifles. Also remember to clean your brushes and jags with break clean so they won't leave a false impression of a dirty barrel.

    Building arrows??

I have never used the VAP but seriously looked at them. I went with Black Eagle X Impact. I believe heavy FOC improves arrow flight dramatically. You can get a variety of heavy field points pretty cheap from 3 Rivers Archery on line. My set up is 200gr with 4 2.5 in AAE fletch. It shoots...

    Chili Colorado

My son turned 17 a week ago but wanted to celebrate today. He invited friends over and wanted Authentic Mexican food. I have some deer roasts from last year I need to use up. So I decided Chili Colorado would fill up a bunch of teenagers! It's a process but well worth the effort. I am no...

    Ice fishing

Dang it! If it would ever turn winter here in the Hoosier state I would be doing some hard water fishing. Might just have to head to Wisconsin for a week!

Pronghorn and deer makes sense and have done it many times. Elk I don't think you could do it cheaper than driving.

    Talk me into Coyote hunting

This is why I shoot them... That year I shot 8 and during archery I rattled in a pack of 5 not once but 3 times. So you really need to keep them in check. You will never eliminate them all...they are like roaches!
