    Cats Aren't Trophies

Last I heard it is really close. If anyone has been sitting on the sidelines, now is the time to jump in. Best way to contribute is a donation to savethehuntcolorado.com. I like the idea from someone on this forum who recommended donating as much money as you have spent on applications and...

    Calf Mortality After Cow Dies

As you point out, they're not the same. Elk are much more gregarious than moose, but maybe not as much as deer(?). Similar to what someone else observed, I watched a backyard doe with twins pick up a third fawn for a few weeks. Then the 3rd fawn 'disappeared' and eventually the smaller of...

    Cats Aren't Trophies

There seems to be a gentlemen's agreement not to use gory footage on either side in CO. If the anti-hunters show videos of a lion getting shot, the pro-hunters can post endless footage of cats ripping fawns to pieces.

I have my phone (Android) and my daughter's phone (iPhone) on the same account. She does not have a "Sync" button. I have some waypoints that were shared with me. How do I get them to show up on her phone?

    Calf Mortality After Cow Dies

I appreciate all the hearsay and barstool 'knowledge,' but I'm still waiting for a creditable citation.

Randy Newberg wins a big award!

Wallace Fennell Pate Award No one spelled it out, so it took me a minute to find this thread (after reading the most recent Bugle issue). Congrats and thanks to you Randy!

    Calf Mortality After Cow Dies

There was a short piece in the most recent Bugle issue that stated something along the lines of, "If a cow dies during the first year of a calf's life, the calf has a near 0% chance of survival." I looked online for some data to back that up and can't find anything. There are lots of studies...

Washington Post Opinion Piece Completely Misses the Point

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/08/20/blm-public-land-corner-locked-hunting/ How does someone do so much research and completely miss the point that the public does not have to pay for access to public land (assuming the court rules in favor of the Missouri hunters in the Eschelman...

    Heard youngsters bugling yesterday evening

Heard one Aug 17. Lots of cows chirping and then the most pathetic bugling ever, lol.

    Socks!

Did I miss it or has no one mentioned odor? This is one of the top priorities for me while living in the same pair of socks for at least a day (and maybe multiple days with a rinse in between) while backpack hunting climbing up and down mountains. I have 3 pairs of SmartWool that I have hiked...

    Sleeping Pad Comfort

Be sure to check it out in person. I have a Synmat Hyperlite, which is light and comfy, but louder than the old Sunchips bags. I have to wear earplugs or I wake myself up every time I shift my weight.

Can I suggest adding an off-line feature that just uses a look-up table (maybe it gets downloaded when you download an offline map)?

Why so little support among hunters for growing game populations?

I intentionally ignored it because of the can of worms it opens. Saying someone is "privileged" glosses over the fact that some people just prioritize hunting higher than others. Not to mention the whole societal equality/equity arguments, taxes, forms of government, etc, etc.

Sorry if this is a repeat. Is there a moon/sun rise/set times feature somewhere? That would be super useful to know for the user's current location.

Why so little support among hunters for growing game populations?

Sorry, I didn't read your post carefully. I thought you were suggesting swapping where the funds went. Your suggestion makes sense. My apologies. You're right, it's not realistic to expect it, but I really do wonder at the people that complain about a $60 license fee and then turn around and...

Why so little support among hunters for growing game populations?

I disagree. If you look at historical game populations when we were actively managing the national forests, you can find evidence that the land can sustain much larger game populations. Look at the millions of acres of old, diseased-riddled pine forests where almost nothing lives. If we can...

Why so little support among hunters for growing game populations?

You realize your app/points/license fees go to your state wildlife agency which is managing the wildlife, right? Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying, but it sounds like you want to rob Peter to pay Paul. If you think they are spending the money worse than RMEF/RMBS, then get involved...
