    First Tracks did a taste test with different game. Nobody got them all right, I don't believe. I think that means that any species is about the same and that includes Mule Deer. That's been my experience, too.

    Fwiw, I watch mule deer from my property when I'm home. They don't seem to move a lot in the wind. Ymmv. Of course, if you can only hunt on pretty windy days, I guess that's you are going to have to do.

    Bigger bucks travel a lot during the rut. Unless you are staring at the same area for a long time as in hours or days, you won't catch a glimpse of them when they come by. They also move from doe group to doe group ... another reason you may not be seeing them.

    Congrats. I had a Subaru once. It was the only AWD/4WD that I found was pretty dangerous in the snow going downhill. However, it might have had a lot to do with the stock Outback tires that were fairly worthless in snow.
