I’m not to wild about the quota changes.
What I was referencing was apparently from a different op ed, I was thinking it was about the mule deer does only on private land.
The Oct season may help some, but does nothing to address crowding… there are season splits to permits for the rut to whatever options being discussed to the point my head may explode… resource first management is what we need… figuring that out for most opportunity isn’t gonna be simple
Many wonderful things about shooting with a camera:
1. Easy to pack out
2. Don’t have to feel guilty and make family choke down rutty mule deer
3. The buck is there to enjoy next week and for the next guy to “shoot”
4. I can on for hrs the positives to “hunting with a camera In lieu of rifle”
I’m not hard and fast on the 5 day deal, can be talked into more days, bad thing is I can be talked into less days as well😁. I also think that NR bird license should be good for 3 days, can buy up to 3 per year.
I’m not limiting them to an outfitted hunt. I am just saying as a NR you pick the 5 day window you hunt OUR state. None of us living here want to see NR come here set up camp for 2-3-4-5 weeks and compete with R hunters, most of whom only have Saturday and Sunday to recreate.
This will...
Another cheap shot whilst hiding behind an anonymous internet moniker.
If I was in charge we’d have gone LE permanently long ago. I’m not, so suggestions will be move mule deer season to Oct, or three weeks general, last 2 weeks permit only(and not many permits issued). Along with dozens of...
Having NR hunters pick a 5 day window to hunt is something I’ve suggested. Mon-Fri, leaving weekends for R hunters. Would also make absentee landowning look less appealing also, and might force a few to seek R status in Mt, forcing them to pay taxes here like the rest of us.
R hunters have for the most part in R6&7 quit hunting. All we see are Wa, Mn, Wi, and a few western Mt plates. Seeing more ppl than deer in most areas.
In 7 at least there are some large contiguous blocks of private that allow a few deer to survive.
My fear is that we are...
Electing commissioners would be a mistake, as would be electing the director. I won’t go into all the reasons why, but Big Fin laid out why on an old thread. Hunt around, he makes a great case.
For 20 years I’ve worked to see that 7 be broken into districts instead of managed as a unit. Did not think I’d live long enuf to see it happen. It wasnt exactly what I’d like to have seen, but it’s a start.
Now, for the ankle biters out there wondering about motivation to see it done…...
I used to think electing them was the answer, but it’s not. You’d just get the best heeled(richest) folks buying an elected position and getting what they want.
