30ish years ago the Savage 110 .270 seemed like a pretty good upgrade to my teenage self. I've taken a whole bunch of big game with that .270, but you are correct that it isn't the same as that old lever gun.
Could have made that post myself, except my niece was the culprit. Can't believe you have kids old enough for what I see on the right. Congrats! I admit I am a little jealous of what you've got to look forward to there.
Had to give my first away on Saturday. Thankful that she chose well. Still, one of the proudest saddest moments of my life. Mostly managed to smile through it...
In your shoes, given that I must draw this year - the one I think is "slam dunk" every time. Because in my experience in recent years, if you have even small doubt that you won't have enough points to draw it - you won't.
I post so infrequently here that I know no one gives a crap what I've said, but since I posted in this thread earlier and could have unintentionally come across as complaining - I'll be a NR on this thread that says yep, it has been really enjoyable hunting in Wyoming; no, I can't be too hard on...

Coming in WY 2022 legislative session: 7250 3125 NR elk tags by statute. Because why should residents' opportunity be so hindered, and hunting pressure so high on general elk units??
Don't worry, it will fail in 2022 and 2023 because WYOGA will oppose it, so you'll still have a couple of...
I don't know your dad's experience or fitness levels but in your situation I would double down on considering an outfitted hunt. My dad had never been in a position to be able to hunt the west. In 2009 I took him on an outfitted lope/deer combo hunt in Wyoming. By virtually anyone's...
1) Especially since he just mounted it yesterday, no it's not too late. The hair is still visibly wet in your pics.
2) I'm not a pronghorn taxidermist; I've mounted only 1 of them. Pronghorns DO tend to have a bit of a 'sunken eyes' look when viewed from straight on and below the animal, and...
