    I would say herd animals like deer and elk are much better off if the mother dies. I'm sure some calves still don't make it though. When it comes to more solitary animals like moose and bear, you might as well as killed the mother and the calves/cubs yourself...

    That is the furthest thing from the truth, but Okay. I'm pretty confident the overwhelming majority of guys on here would rather have a great day whitetail hunting over seeing and hearing absolutely nothing but pumpkins in "elk country". Going on a date with a 9 < getting to 3rd base with a 7.

    I saw a BLM "range" North of Gillette two years ago. Three dudes were shooting a couple ARs and a bolt action a few yards from the road, leaning on a fence post, shooting at what looked like a flat screen TV box 50 yards away. Real classy!

    Both calibers you have will kill everything in NA. My go to is my .25-06 for whitetail, mule deer and antelope, and my .300 WM for anything bigger.
