Used someone else's ATV for my last hunt. Strapping stuff to an ATV sucks. I have a sturdy wooden/milk crate set up on mine that just makes everything easier. More anchor points, tie downs, etc.
Still made it work but continuously readjusting straps drove me nuts. I ended up strapping down a...
Cool article! Can't imagine the knowledge she's passed down to the herd and her fawns.
I really enjoyed tracking her (and other deer) on the Wyoming Migration Initiative! The page is really worth a follow on FB!
Headed to the NE of the state mid-October. Curious to see what numbers will be in my area.
I managed to get some additional private access so that might help...
I have 3/4 Carnivore Cabela's grinder and it's plenty for me.
I've done probably a couple dozen animals through it with no issues, from antelope to moose. The foot pedal is definitely a must, makes operating the grinder alone a breeze.
Just got back from 10 days with no shower in the Yukon. Baby wipes are all you need. Plus if you hot tent, the smell of smoke covers the BO.
That first shower back to civilization is always pretty damn great though!
Shaped like a f'n cube van!!!
Man, that gets the blood flowing, I drew a mule deer tag for my local zone and get to hunt the rut this year!!! Had a massive forky with double drop tines on one of the spots I hunt a few years back, could never get close enough for a bow shot...
Couple things, fall hunting is more of a "right time, right place" kind of hunt, for turkeys. Spring is a lot easier and much more fun as you can actually call them in.
In a spring hunt scenario, I like to put the turkeys to roost, ie I spot where they are in the evening and come back the next...
The Butt Out tool.
It has absolutely no bearing on my life, I just hate it and people you use it. It's junk designed for junk hunters who probably wear those long plastic sleeves that go all the way to your elbows.
I bet you they use Scent Free products too, chumps.
Just a reminder that dreams do come true.
10 days in the Yukon backcountry and ticked another animal off my actual dream hunt list. Just got back from hunting the only public DIY caribou hunt available to me as Canadian non-resident.
Already planning the next trip up there!
Flying out for the Yukon tomorrow. Everything is packed and ready to go. Going to hunt caribou and moose in the Yukon portion of the Cassiar Mountains.
I've been restless at the office all day... Pretty excited!!!
