From WY earlier in the week. Passed up this buck twice early morning as I was wanting to walk an area of BLM which took until about midday. But went back looking for him and thankfully found him on my walk out. Measured over 15.5 inches.
Dubois is a great town to base a hunt. Agree with all of the earlier recommendations. I have a 84 antelope tag and if my plans work out I will be there early Oct. And yes, grizzly are in the lower country/river bottoms.
Im 8 years deep buying my kids points. My daughter had WY deer, elk and pronghorn points but I let them go once she was 18 and the cost jumped. Was a risk that she wouldnt hunt but I was happy to take that risk. My son has 4 points in WY and drew a Gen elk tag in the random draw this year lol...
Good luck! Will be an amazing adventure. Can't remember shooting off a meat bag, but have shot off a pack full of meat!
You should apply in the Fiordland wapiti ballot. Its open for entries now.
Well I hope I've done the right thing!
Saw that there was an Elk 25 tag in the WY leftover and purchased it! I normally do many hours of research before I buy a tag but seems like it could be a good tag so now the online research starts! If any one is willing to help or share their recent...
Hi All, was wondering if there are many other foreign hunters heading to the Western USA to hunt this fall? Would be good to hear your plans and where you’re from.
My son and I are heading to western Wyoming next month from New Zealand. My son has a general elk tag and I have a pronghorn tag...
New Zealand have been knocked out of the competition but it’s been a big deal here. Lots of media coverage and full stadiums. Hope the US team can keep going.
Its a pretty decent stag for public land. Took me many years, and lots of boot leather, to find a spot that holds these good stags.
I've walked through Poronui to get to public land and it does have nice sika stags for the right money. I'm sure you would have a great experience but as you say...
That’s very interesting. I’m the opposite and my hobbies are similar in terms of weigh and strength requirements.
I hunt, fish, do multi-sports and running. My weight moves 5 pounds max during the year. Can get boring but the cross training is easy!
