Yesterday was my first proper run for me in 3 months! After testing positive for COVID in early December have now only felt like getting after it and was happy to push reasonably hard on a 7km race.
Hopefully now I can start getting fit for my planned half marathon (Australia in August) and...
Hi Paul, I think you’ll need to get a visitors firearm permit and also a firearm import permit. The process will be painful I’m sure but you can start here https://www.firearmssafetyauthority.govt.nz/tools-and-application-forms/permit-import-forms
I haven't shipped NZ - US but have shipped US - NZ and those cost look about the same as post COVID quotes I have got.
I suggest you look at what you can take back with you. For example cut off the antlers, clean them and check them in. I did this with two sets of elk antlers, and two sets of...
If you’re capable of hunting mountains in the USA you don’t need a guide. Just contact a helicopter operator and they will drop you off in a location with tahr.
But if you want a guaranteed very easy decent tahr (12inches plus) you might want a guide on private land.
There are no restrictions on what you can hunt, no tags and no seasons. You just need a free permit (available to anyone) to hunt public land and then go for it. There are some controls on public land e.g. no night hunting, no hunting near tourist tracks etc.
285 from memory.
My first western hunt. WY general tag archery hunt in grizzly country. I was over the moon and couldn’t believe the size of the antlers and body. Now mounted at my home in New Zealand.
Thanks for the reminder. I'm thinking of buying my son a 'youth' spring bear point. I have a point already and that would give us the option of both applying with a point average.
I'm sticking with the standard draw again this year. I'm applying across multiple states so happy to take the standard draw risk of lower odds. In future I'll probably apply in the special draw if it provides better odds.
I would pay the special price for the right tag (and if I don't draw my other tags), but with zero points I'd need to do more research to see if its possible.
That's me with 8 points. I was hoping to draw a unit that currently takes 7 points to draw. But as you say, 2 point annual creep isn't a race you can win.
If the draw / NR allocation change means my points are worth half of what they are today I'd happily adjust my expectations. The way I...
Thanks for the heads up. Watching now.
BTW the All Blacks are playing in San Diego in July if anyone is interested. Playing Fiji which always makes for a good game.
I sure hope you're right. I applied in the standard draw and hope to get back to WY this fall with a couple of tags.
As a non resident (alien) I'm extremely grateful to WY for the tags my son and I have had over 4 years of applying in WY - 4 bull, 3 deer, 2 antelope and 1 bear tag.
