I managed to get work wrapped up by about 1:00 and headed up to the trailhead, picking my friends girlfriend up on the way as she had not been able to get her truck up the road to help, we passed a second friend packing his elk out lower down on the road, looks like I should have taken the day... -

Higher R value pad
R 4.3 seems low, I second the Xtherm, I've rolled with it to -30 and haven't had issues with the pad. when I'm using a cot I use a Z rest under whatever other pad I am using, it also doubles as an insulating mat for my chair or a glassing seat...- GrantK

What tent to buy
I don't disagree, but usually, the people I see struggling to do longer day hunts seem to do even worse packing in, I'm generalizing but hunters, particularly those packing teepees with stoves, seem to bring the kitchen sink, and they work themselves over so much getting all the stuff a couple...- GrantK

What tent to buy
wall tent hands down, nothing more comfortable for a bunch of people, I can't even imagine the disaster of shoehorning 5 guys and a stove into a teepee, for my money I can't imagine going to the trouble of packing a camp in anything less than 5 miles, live comfortably at the truck and cruise...- GrantK

CO CPW Draw Process Working Group
I don't disagree, but I feel like the odds of CPW changing the process so much at one shot that it eliminates turned-in tags is slim, it seems like there's a huge resistance to just ripping off the bandaid and fixing things, we may get there but I bet it's an incremental, long process. -

thanks for doing this @Oak •Leave MSG alone •Capped OTC by zones, not units for NR. •Make it much tougher to turn in a tag •Reissue process using either a mini draw every week or a queue-it program like ID, people like to hate but it's miles more fair than what goes on now and wouldn't be more...
