The bow is an APA Mamba 7.
APA bows come with a pin that fits into a series of holes in one of the cams.
Remove the pin from its storage place. Step on the string and pull bow towards you. Insert the pin & release the tension.
If you really wanted to, you can replace the string in your...
Welcome to the club.
I'm fairly new to the 270 Win also having purchased a Ruger 77 MKII Stainless with the Zytel synthetic stock. Aka the boat paddle.
Finally own a 270 that I'm not going to rebarrel to something else.
For practice and load development, I'm shooting the 140gr SST.
For...
No set screws.
Talked to tech from APA. He said sometimes it takes some force to break them loose.
Egads!
I'm going to take the tension off of the limbs, as I'm worried about stripping the screws.
Yeah, they are that tight!
One thing that I have learned.
If everything is right, it doesn't take much force with your press to do any function.
If the press seem tight, or use of excessive force, STOP!
Something is wrong.
I've made 6.5mm Rem Mag from 7mm Rem Mag cases.
Involves pushing the shoulder back about a...
Ok, I'll throw this out there.
Do you "bed" the picitinny rail?
I've heard of people doing this, but it's not for me.
I've been using a couple drops of the Green Loctite. The one for putting in a bearing race.
Then torque to spec. 25lbin.
Per APA, 4 turns out is equal to 10lbs.
And that's all I intend to do.
Problem is that the bolts (screws) seem siezed.
I applied penetrating oil on them and let them sit for a couple of days.
I do have a good, snug fitting allen wrench.
I'm wanting to adjust the draw weight (lower) on a used bow I recently bought.
Question.
Do this with the tension on the limbs, or release the tension?
Thanks!!!
As I said, 9.0gr of Unique was my most accurate. Just dirty as all get out.
I'm going to try and find a cleaner burning powder.
QL is going to be my friend keeping an eye on pressure.
Ok, recently bought 2 different 45 caliber firearms.
Problem is that there are 3 pressure levels for each.
First firearm is a Taurus Judge with the 6.5" barrel.
I have a bunch of 185gr Sierra JHP.
I have found data from Lyman 48th for the 185gr, but it's rifle data, not pistol.
The data...
I will note my frustration with Lee is their "280AI" die set.
It's not the SAAMI standard 280AI.
They don't fully explain what exactly is different, just that their set is not SAAMI.
My friend did have issues with his RCBS 284 Win dies also.
Wouldn't size the body.
He found a deal on some...
I wasn't looking to buy another bow, but....
Guy was advertising an APA Mamba 6 on another forum.
Came with a Ripcord drop away rest.
When I received it, imagine my surprise when I saw Mamba 7 on it.
I already own/shoot an APA Viper Air. Single cam set for 50lb pull from the factory...
@Redmt,
Interesting.
I had a RCBS die set for straight 284 Win.
Sizing die was over working the neck. The expander wasn't sized for 284 either.
I don't recall the actual measurements but it would have put decent neck tension on a 270.
I contacted RCBS. They asked me why I bought a 6.5-284...
Oh, please do tell what exactly makes a Lee die set "crap".
I have 17 sets of Lee dies going from 9mm Luger through 7mm Rem Mag and 45-70.
Been using them for 15 years or so.
Never had to send one back. Never had to call customer service.
I've had my share of issues with RCBS, and their...
I'd see if I could find a left hand Keystone Cricket.
The shorter LOP is going to be nothing but a help for someone in that age bracket.
Unless you're my daughter in the 95%. At 18 she was 6'3".
If you want to get her used to a scope, the 4X Cricket scope really isn't bad for it's price point.
So I looked up the Terminal Ascent bullet.
It looks like it is about 50% copper.
Hence it would be longer than the typical cup & core bullet of the same weight.
Possibly running into stability issues.
