Despite everyone saying the Savage 99's are ugly, I remember my dads model 99 in 264 Win Mag and wish I had that rifle. I've also always had a soft spot for model 94 30-30s.
My favorite elk hunts are ones with my sons and being with them, yes it adds something to it when they're successful. My favorite personal elk hunting experience was a trip I took solo. I planned on it being more of a scouting trip and then going back later with one of my sons. Well, luck was...
#1 & #2 Decent 4x4 with eye guards
#3 Pretty good chance yes, but not certain
#4 In a typical year of hunting I'll only get 3 to 6 days to hunt total, so that might get this buck in trouble. However, my last deer hunt had a buck very similar that almost got shot, I watched him a bit, made 110%...
Déjà vu! For a second I thought I was reading about my hunt. After spotting the rams and closing the distance we picked up a horseshoe and the guide said it would be good luck, it was. Do these guys carry horseshoes and when you're not looking throw one out? Anyway, great report and awesome ram...
Did we shoot the same deer, with the same rifle?! Wait..... I just saw the time stamp on your photo, they didn't time stamp photos then..... in fact there is no photo, just a petroglyph on a cave wall somewhere. However, it was with a Model 94 30-30.
Not really a "name that cartridge," because I have no idea what it is. Found this over a year ago at a range, if I remember correctly it was a Creedmoor case. The only thing I can figure is..... well, I have no idea what happened here. The pic was still on my phone and this thread reminded me...
I'm in the boat of having a LabRadar for sale, in a flooded market thanks to Garmin. If you're looking for a chronograph the only issue is price..... and if you can find the Garmin, other than that this is the chrono to buy. Side by side with the LabRadar it catches all the shots and is much...
We have the machine from Annealing Made Perfect out of New Zealand. It's an induction annealer as well, so I'm guessing fairly similar, but I haven't used the Quick Anneal. My sons shoot far more than I do and would be more qualified to answer your questions, but it is fast and accurate...
I hope everything from here on out falls in line and goes smoothly. This is reminding me of my aoudad hunt near Roswell, we had sickness running through the family and I caught the bug the night before I left for a 1,400+ mile drive. I think I hit almost every gas station along the route, rather...
First deer and elk or another of many animals taken, she has really set the bar high. Obviously dad has been a big part of her preparation and hunt, so congratulations to all!
