Answer - It doesn't matter. ELDx will make bigger wounds but its not like a 7mm mono at 3k fps is going to struggle to kill a deer. It sounds like both shoot better than basically any hunter does in field situations.
Did accuracy with the light ones leave something to be desired or something? I'd think it'd basically do the same thing as a 7 RM, maybe a hair slower.
Fair bit of load info for these over on rokslide recently. Let us know how it does!
I have a 6mm benchmark blank sitting in the safe and i'm fighting the urge to spin one of these up.
Just know that velocities might dip a little when it's cold, even with varget. I wouldn't worry about it much.
Hot barrels bother me more in the form of mirage than anything else. I don't worry about them getting hot for accuracy purposes.
I was of the impression that northern Michigan wasn't exactly thriving when it comes to deer numbers and still very much different than the southern portion? Maybe not the wolf #s like the UP but still winter and less ideal habitat?
I make a point of asking for them back if I want them. Most seem to ask what you want with it.
I sent a lightly used 300wm superlite to a smith to build a custom off of and he neglected to ship the factory barrel, stock, and magazine to me. After asking a couple times he got just the barrel to...
Thanks for sharing, I’m jealous like everyone else.
Bummer to hear about the copper spur. I was primed to buy a copper spur 5 for trips with wife and daughters. Might need to look at other options now.
Generally, no. I won’t say it doesn’t happen sometimes but I bounce around with different powders and bullets a lot and don’t typically see any issue.
Have bounced around a fair bit between barnes LRX, Berger, hornady, and Sierra bullets in my primary hunting rifle and it shoots them all well...
Yeah, it’s not even an enticing function for usefulness to me but people are all incensed. I’m for limiting technology to the extent it makes things too easy but this ain’t that. Kind of like lighted nocks.. I don’t use them but think the logic against them is dumb. They don’t help people kill...
That was my thought as well. “More deer oriented but bigger than 25-06?”, 25-06 is overkill for deer. Not bad, just more than enough. Not sure why you’d want a heavier bullet or slower velocity?
Yes, basically every Range Finder has horizontal distance correction. 30 degrees up vs 30 degrees down might be a single 0.1 mil or 0.25 MOA click difference in elevation dope @ 1000 yards.
The below is the only stuff i found with a couple minutes of digging. The way they present whatever that function is gives me bad vibes.
So basically fuddy CDS stuff.
