We eat lots of moose roasts, and I prefer them to steaks. My go to is, heavily coat a room temp roast with kosher salt, slather a room temp herb'ed butter and cracked pepper cook in oven at 500 degrees until internal temp makes it to 105+/- (usually takes 10-12 min), then turn off the oven...- Bambistew

Which inreach plan?
I keep it on the basic plan and then increase it during hunting season when I expect to text a lot more than normal. If I need to text more when on the basic plan, I just pay for them, it takes a lot of text to get to the $65 plan to make it worth it.- Bambistew

Ruger M77 Mark II 30-338
Is it rebarreled or rechambered? Looks like a Ramline stock? Also looks like a fun time! I believe a 30-338 is a 300win case necked up 338. I would get a chamber cast done to verify. A 338-06 would also be a fun time -

ISO Affordable, quality lightweight sleeping bag.
I have 4-5 different bags. My most used one is a Marmot 10deg down. They don't make the same model anymore, it's 20 years old but still kicking stong. I've never been cold in that bag, and usually sleep under it like a quilt. If I was shopping today I'd buy a Marmot Helium. I would go check...- Bambistew

Don't let baranoia keep you out of the woods. I've never used a bear fence, and often cook in my tent... I know tempting fate. The bears that will get you are the ones you surprise on the bush. They aren't coming in looking to eat you in camp.- Bambistew

ID nonres sheep/Moose/Goat apps?
Can't your son apply for a NR "adult" tag? I guess I'm not sure why NR youth need to have any priority. If I remember right NM is one of the only places that offer youth tags for animals other than deer/elk, but I could be wrong.- Bambistew

Arbitrary Hunting Goals
Id like to shoot a few more animals/species with my muzzle loader. Like a brown bear, moose and a sheep. I had a goal of shooting 12 rams, almost there.- Bambistew

Alaska Super Seven Big Game Raffle/Brown Bear
I'm not sure what I would do, TBH. All three tags have their own challenges and rewards. I'd love to have a Chugach bear tag, not as big but a very cool experience. Id imagine it would be way cheaper as a NR too.- Bambistew
